There are large amount of Chinese herbal medicine used in folk custom of our country. Most of these medicines are related with hygiene and health care. The usage of these medicine included avoiding dirty, preventing diseases, restoring convalescence, health protection, cosmetology, bathing, and daily effective medical prescription. Folk custom has the characteristics of regionality, consistency, and nationality,ete. Some of traditional Chinese medicine originates from folk custom. Therefore, the research of medicine used in folk custom may help to the development of traditional Chinese medicine.

Pulmonary system diseases are spreading out all over the world. Among them, cough is one of the most prevalent public issues. As a central reflex, cough often helps to clear pulmonary tracts of foreign particles, secretions and microbes. Nevertheless, persistent coughs usually indicate the presence of a background disease. Many times cough causes spreading the disease to new hosts. As a public effort, people usually use folk medicine to alleviate their coughs. Shiraz and Larestan are two cities of Fars province which their ethnopharmacology has a great role in the health systems. The aim of the study is to investigate the compatibility of ethnopharmacology in cough therapy with modern medicine for the evaluation of its efficacy. A database is made on herbal medicines that were claimed to have cough therapy effects by visiting some of the apothecaries in Shiraz and Larestan. For realizing the adjustment of the claimed drugs with modern medicine, the authors searched the articles in Medline databases.

Based on the results of investigation of Arhorchin Mongolian folk medicinal plants and related knowledge system, the present paper discussed the interrelationship between folk plant medicine and Mongolian medicine as well as Chinese herbal medicine by the items of plant species, medicinal parts, treating disease and administering methods. The results show that there are some consistency between folk medicine and Mongolian medicine as well as Chinese herbal medicine, and there are also some other inconsistency. Consistency between folk medicine and Mongolian medicine may be illustrated the fact that the Arhorchin Mongolian folk medicinal knowledge and Mongolian medicine are belongs to same system. Consistency between folk medicine and Chinese herbal medicine are illustrated the fact that knowledge exchange and cultural infiltration between Arhorchin Mongolians and Han nationality. Inconsistency may be illustrated richness and exploration value of folk medicinal knowledge.
