The kidney graft survival in 117 transplanted patients was investigated with reference to blood transfusions. No improvement of graft survival was observed in the transfused patients as compared to the patients who were not transfused or had got autologous blood only.

Drug-induced kidney injury is a potential complication of a number of medicaments. The wide-spread use of estrogens in the form of oral contraceptives and in the form of hormonal replacement therapy, has necessitated extensive studies on the biochemical alterations. The following effects of estrogens on kidney are discussed in greater detail with special regard to enzyme induction. The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of long-term activity estrogens on kidney lysosomal enzymes like cathepsin B, D and L. Female rats were divided randomly into eight experimental groups. Oestradiolum benzoicum was used for the purpose of this study. Estrogens were given i.m. one time per week for 8 weeks in different doses, respectively: E1--0.00075 g/kg b.w., one time per week; E1.1--0.00075 g/kg b.w. every three days; E2--0.0015 g/kg b.w.. one time per week. E2.1--0.0015 g/kg b.w.. every three days; E3--0.03 g/kg b.w.. one time per week; E3.1--0.003 g/kg b.w.. every three days; KO--untreated animals; K1--treated control, rats received oleum pro injection at the dose of 1.2 ml/100 g b.w. The activity of free and bound fractions of lysosomal enzymes, such as cathepsin B, D and L were assayed in kidney homogenates using spectrophotometric methods. Differences between various experimental groups were tested with ANOVA test. The activity of cathepsin B, D and L fractions showed significant changes compared to control groups. The observed changes were not characteristic in all the studied groups. The most important changes referred to the activity of cathepsin B and D. Differences were noted between the enzymes activity in animals treated with the smallest dose of estrogen and that in control groups. It was smaller in group E1 than in groups K0 and K1. The activity of cathepsin B was higher in group E1 than in control groups. There was no correlation between the dose of injected estrogens and the observed lysosomal activity changes. The changes in lysosomal activity were uncharacteristic.

Between 1968 and 1985 108 renal retransplants were performed at Johannesburg Hospital; 102 patients received a second, 5 patients a third, and 1 patient a fourth kidney. The actuarial graft survival at 1 and 5 years is 52.8% and 40.5%. All retransplanted kidneys were obtained from cadaver donors. Factors that influence second graft survival are the period of survival of the previous graft, the use of cyclosporin A, the level of pre-sensitisation determined by preformed antibodies, the original disease (in particular diabetes and analgesic nephropathy) and the patient's sex. The results of retransplantation are not significantly different from those found in patients with first allografts; hence retransplantation is justified in those individuals whose previous donor kidney has ceased to function.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of cyclomastopathy with treating kidney and adjusting surrounding treatment.Method: Study on 40 patients who are diagnosed as cyclomastopathy in lacteal gland clinic of the second Chinese Medical hospital of Jiangsu Province, tonifying kidney yin in premenstrual and tonifying kidney yang in delayed menorrhea for 3 menstrual cycles, observing the effect whether the intermit mastalgia be alleviated.Result: There are 24 cases of total 40 cases symptoms disappear, cure rate is 60%;10 cases are alleviated obviously, excellence rate are 25%;total effective rate is 85%.Conclusion: Treatment of cyclomastopathy with treating kidney and adjusting surrounding is well curative effect.

Persistent gross hematuria following a diagnostic needle biopsy of the kidney should be investigated with intravenous urography and renal arteriography. Renal arteriography revealed the cause of postbiopsy hemorrhage which required early operative intervention in a 22-year-old man.
