A Comparison Between Digital Examination and Per-rectal Ultrasound in the Evaluation of the Prostate
Summary— Three hundred and fifty‐two patients have been examined by per‐rectal ultrasound and histological confirmation of the diagnosis was obtained in 242 cases. Per‐rectal ultrasound compared favorably with digital palpation both as a method of diagnosing prostatic cancer and also as a method of staging a primary tumour. Confirmation of the accuracy of this technique as a method of staging was gained by a study involving the use of cadaver material. Repeat examinations on patients with prostatic carcinoma have shown that per‐rectal ultrasound is an ideal method for monitoring response of the primary tumour to treatment.

Objective:To explore the value of ultrasonographic diagnosis and follow-up of gallbladder micro-protrusion lesions. Methods:The ultrasound imaging of 33 cases of gallbladder micro-protrusion lesions and pathological diagnosis were analyzed retrospectively. Results:The coincidence rate between ultrasonographic diagnosis firstly and pathological diagnosis is 90.9%,the coincidence rate between ultrasonographic diagnosis follow-up and pathological diagnosis is 97.0%.Conclusion:Ultrasonographic diagnosis for Gallbladder Micro-protrusion Lesions is accurate,non-invasive,simple and economic, and ultrasonographic diagnosis follow-up for gallbladder micro-protrusion lesions is more valuable.

Objective: To compare the clinical value of diagnosis in pathological classification of appendicitis between CT and ultrasound. Methods: CT noncontrast enhanced scan and ultrasound were performed on 162 patients with clinical doubtful appendicitis. Classified appendicitis compared with the results of operation to calculate correctly diagnostic rate, specificity, sensibility, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and compared the statistical difference between CT and ultrasound. Results: 156 appendicitis were confirmed by pathology after operation, and the correctly diagnostic rate of CT and ultrasound respectively was 91. 3% and82. 1%,the specificity respectively was 50. 0% and 66. 7%,the sensibility respectively was 94. 9% and 85. 3%,the negative predictive value respectively was 27. 3% and 14. 8%,the positive predictive value respectively was98. 0% and 98. 5%. There was statistical difference between CT and ultrasound. Conclusion: CT and ultrasound have important clinical value in diagnosing different pathologic types and clinical stages of appendicitis, and CT is better than ultrasound in diagnosis of simple and chronicity appendicitis,it can be a complementa examination of negative ultrasonic result and can provide valuable information for clinic.

[Abstract] Objectives: To investigate diagnostic value of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for malignant and benign breast lesions. Methods: Retrospective analysis of treatment data of 48 patients diagnosed with malignant and benign breast lesions in our hospital, collected from December 2017 to November 2018. A total number of 56 breast masses were examined by both ultrasound and MRI, and were compared with postoperative pathological biopsy results. Results: Postoperative pathological biopsy results showed that there were 26 and 30 malignant and benign lesions respectively. Comparison of MRI curve type of malignant and benign lesions showed statistical significance (P<0.05). By comparison with pathological biopsy results, specificity and sensitivity of ultrasound diagnosis were 83.33% (25/30) and 84.61% (22/26) respectively; specificity and sensitivity of MRI diagnosis were 96.66% (29/30) and 92.30% (24/26) respectively. Conclusions: Ultrasonographic examination of malignant and benign breast lesions is straight-forward, simple and inexpensive. Accuracy, specificity and sensitivity of MRI are significantly higher than ultrasound in examining malignant and benign breast lesions, this can reduce misdiagnosis.

From 1983 to 1985, 214 patients with rectal carcinoma were assessed for the conformation rate of the rectal examination to the gross findings of the extent of perirectal infiltration in the resected specimens. It was found that the conventional classification of the extent of rectal infiltration by rectal examination, 1/4, 1/3, 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 of the circumference, had only a conformation rate of 32.7% to the gross findings. According to the classification of 1/4 or less and more, the conformation rate could reach 93%. It was also found that the extent of perirectal infiltration, being closely related to the regional lymph node metastasis and the depth of invasion, was only demonstrated by this latter classification, which was not shown in the conventional classification. Hence, it is suggested that the rectal examination implying the extent of perirectal infiltration by simply classified into two groups: equal to or less than 1/4 and more than 1/4 of the circumference of the rectal wall.

Objective To evaluate color Doppler ultrasound diagnoze thyroid cancer, and to compare with the pathological findings, and to improve diagnosis rate and reduce the misdiagnosis rate. Methods Retrospective analysis 22 patients with sonographic features and pathological findings from January 2008 to January 2011 confirmed the pathological diagnosis in our hospital. Results Among 22 cases thyroid cancer, ultrasound diagnosis was 18 cases, ultrasound diagnosis rate was 81.8%,four cases were misdiagnosised, misdiagnosis rate was 18.2%.Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasound diagnosis thyroid cancer have a good clinical value, and should be combined with the typical clinical features of external ultrasound and the patient's medical history information and pathological examination, conducive to a comprehensive observation and analysis of thyroid cancer sonography.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between P-glycoprotein(P-gp) expression and pathological factors in human colorectal cancer. Methods: P-gp expressions in cancer tissues from 60 cases of colorectal cancer and in peritumor tissues from 12 cases were determined by using S-P immunohistochemical method. Results: The positive rate of P-gp expression in colorectal cancer tissues(65%,39 of 60 cases) was higher than that in peritumor tissues(25%,3 of 12 cases,P0.05).The positive rate of P-gp expression in the group of x≥2 lymph node metastasis was higher than that in the group of x2(P0.05).There was no close relationship between the level of P-gp expression and clinical factors, such as the degree of differentiation, the depth of infiltration,Dukes stage, and gross appearance in colorectal cancer(P0.05).Conclusion: Expression of P-gp may play some role in the development of human colorectal cancer.

Objective To explore the ultrasound image characteristics of acute appendicitis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the ultrasound images of 116 cases of appendicitis in our hospital confirmed by surgical pathology to find out ultrasonographic characteristics of different pathological types. Results The ultrasound diagnosis accuracy of acute appendicitis was 93%,and different pathological types of appendicitis showed different ultrasonographic features in three-layered structure of the appendix wall. Conclusion The ultrasound diagnosis of acute appendicitis has a relatively high accuracy and some guidance for determining its pathological types, providing scientific visual image basis for the choice of clinical treatment.
