Abstract:
Road traffic is a major source of in urban areas with far-reaching and wide-range effect to human. It produces disturbance and inversely impacts more than other forms of noise. Urban traffic noise impact assessment has thus become an active environmental acoustics domain. This paper firstly measures the traffic noise in the truck lines in Nanchang city and estimates it. Then this paper finds out the cause of the traffic noise in Nanchang city. Thirdly this paper gives some suggestions on the noise pollution. Keywords:

Describes a socio‐psychological study performed in a residential area of Tehran, exposed to both aircraft and traffic noise. Analysis of residents′ responses to road traffic noise shows that although aircraft noise is the chief environmental problem it fails to mask the nuisance of traffic noise.

Based on the data of regional environmental noise and roadside traffic noise in Taiyuan City in the years from 1996 to 2000,the average level of noise and the rate of reaching standard are analyzed as well as the noise distribution in different sections of the roads which are exposed to different noise levels. Through analyzing the distribution of noise sources,it is pointed out that living noise and traffic noise are the primary noise sources of the regional environmental noise of Taiyuan City. Although the numbers of the automobile increase rapidly during these years, the roadside traffic noise has been up to the State Standard owing to the contribution of the road construction. The treatment countermeasures are discussed such as strenghening the research on the city planning, promoting actively the environmental education of general public.

Problem statement: The problem of urban traffic noise pollution is universal and in the past few decades it has grown to the point that it has become a major concern for both the public and the policy-makers.Approach: In a comprehensive 18 month research project, traffic-generated noise was monitored at 47 roadway locations in fourteen districts in metropolitan Kuwait in 2004-2005.Simultaneously with noise, traffic flow variables of volume-by mix and traffic speed were also measured.Measurements of noise and traffic flow variables were performed for a period of 20 min at each location, repeated 3-5 times, during peak and off-peak hours to account for time-fluctuation of these variables. At each district, a sample of freeway, arterial, collector and local residential streets were included in the noise and traffic flow monitoring plan.In addition to the analysis of noise, flow and their interrelationships, two models-regressions and the FHWA's traffic noise model, were employed to predict noise pollutions from traffic. Results: Findings indicated that traffic noise is at or above, the standard outdoor limits in most locations and especially at arterial roadways and freeways.Recommendations concerning measured to improve the problem of urban traffic noise pollution in Kuwait are also made. Conclusion: Findings of this research project had shown that level of trafficgenerated noise pollution in Kuwait urban area is high enough to adversely affect the welfare activities and productivities of its residents. With the rapidly growing rate of infrastructural development and unplanned urban land-use change, it is almost certain, that problem of urban traffic noise pollution will soon assume a critical dimension and will be a cause of increasing concern for both public and responsible policy-makers.The quality of urban life will undoubtedly be adversely affected.

Korean society is faced with various new problems arising from the development projects of new towns, industrial cities, large-scale residential complexes, etc. started from the 1970s. Particularly with the construction of residential and industrial complexes by the roadsides, they are openly exposed to road traffic noise and vibration. Thus, the objective of this study is to examine using noise maps how increasing traffic volume affects road traffic noise and what problems it causes in areas where new towns or complexes are constructed by development projects. According to the results of this study, in areas around the sites of development projects, the noise level increased by road traffic noise compared to that before development and was 1.16~6.92 times higher than the environmental noise standard, but measures to reduce road traffic noise was lukewarm. In addition, areas with soundproof facilities showed a noise level 1~3 step lower than other areas, and in individual buildings, the noise level on the side facing the road was 1~2 step higher than that on the rear side.

With the continuous development of social economy and urbanization in our country, noise pollution has become the fourth largest environment pollution in our country but water pollution, air pollution, solid waste pollution, which is the widest influence of traffic noise. In recent years, with the development of automobile industry and urban transportation, road traffic noise pollution in Harbin phenomenon is increasingly prominent, which seriously affected the People's daily life. Through detailed survey we found that the research on road traffic noise pollution situation in Harbin is very less, and part of the evaluation is not accurate. In this paper, firstly the characteristics of road traffic noise and noise evaluation index selection is discussed in detail. The xuefu road sections in Harbin city traffic noise and traffic noise pollution monitoring research in detail strict accordance with national standards. According to monitoring data of xuefu road traffic noise pollution source in time and space distribution analysis, the roughly the time distribution and spatial distribution of xuefu road traffic flow. By the overall analyzed monitoring data characteristic, the xuefu road traffic noise pollution is serious. According the previous analysis and research, the researchers find out the main factors influencing the xuefu road traffic condition, and we puts forward some countermeasures for the noise reduction. Through the study of this paper, that is to Harbin city xuefu road for the future of the road traffic noise monitoring and management work provide favorable basis, and it has good practical application value. It aimed at Harbin city road traffic noise control, urban planning and construction, provide theoretical basis for government decisions.

Life noise, industrial noise and traffic noise are three of the main noise sources in Huai'an City,in which traffic noise is the primary reason for noise pollution.Based on analyzing the present situation of traffic noise in Huai'an City, several noise control concepts are proposed from the aspects of traffic noise concentration, reasonable choice of line and form, types and distributions of the buildings near main roads, and traffic noise management,in hope of changing the way of controlling traffic noise from passive to active, and promoting sustainable urban development.

Traffic noise pollution does great harm to people′s health and social economy. Based on the old methods of evaluating traffic noise, the Traffic Noise Integrated Impact Index (TNIII) is proposed through considering the characteristics of traffic noise. Furthermore, some effective measures for reducing traffic noise are introduced from the aspects of research on low noise vehicle, road design, city planning and regulations of traffic.

Due to constant increase in population and traffic volume, traffic noise control in urban areas today represents a major issue for the city authorities. This problem is particularly pronounced in densely built downtown areas, with many residents occupying high-rise buildings which are often placed next to major traffic routes. In order to assess the impact of traffic noise and implement effective measures against it, noise maps of verified reliability must be produced for analyzed area. This paper describes the analysis of traffic noise situation in residential area located in the vicinity of Western railway station in the centre of Croatian capital city Zagreb. The location was selected for several reasons: to determine noise levels that are generated from heavy road, rail and tram traffic with complex traffic conditions in residential downtown area, to investigate the applicability of European interim noise prediction methods in local urban conditions, to study the possible effects of noise reduction measures and also the effect of planned infrastructure on the environment. For the purpose of this analysis, noise models were produced and verified with short-term field measurements. Calculations were conducted by means of noise prediction software, using European interim noise prediction methods and 3D model of analyzed area. Finally, the results of noise calculations for existing and planned traffic infrastructure are presented on noise maps.
