Abstract:
The cultivation experiment of Volvariella volvacea indicated That different kinds of Nitrogen source in cultivation Materials would make the Biological efficiency of Volvariella volvacea increased 10.6%~18.7%,And it was demonstrated in our tests that the harvesting time of Volvariella volvacea was shorted 2 days.It also showed that the Volvariella volvacea yield could increase obviously by covering on cultivation Materials. Keywords:

Comparative trails were done on 5 improved Volvariella volvacea strains. The results showed V_ 979and V_ 965were early-mature and high-yielding strains, and the culture medium with 90% corn stalk, 5% pulverized wheat straw and 5% plant ash could obviously improve the yield.

Three methods of composting straw substrate for Volvariella volvacea cultivation were compared in terms of the nutritional composition of the substrate, biological efficiency and quality of V. volvacea fruit bodies, and mite and pathogenic fungi levels in the substrate at different cultivation stages. When a secondary composted substrate was used for V. volvacea cultivation, the biological efficiency reached 16.3%, a significantly higher value than attained using either simple or primary composted substrates. Furthermore, mite and pathogenic fungi levels were better controlled in secondary composted substrate, and improved fruit body quality and yields were also recorded.

Volvariella volvacea is an edible straw mushroom of tropics and subtropics. The optimum temperature and moisture for the growth of this mushroom are 35°C and 57–60%, respectively. Mushrooms grow on natural or semi synthetic compost and absorb nutrients for their survival. The maintenance and revival of pure culture mycelium with magnificent quality is the first critical stage towards the success of spawn preparation. To maintain any microorganism in artificial conditions, the former has to be cultured on a suitable nutrient medium. All microbes require a set of conditions under which they can grow and sporulate best and culture medium is the major factor influencing fungal cultivation. Five different culture media both in liquid and solid phase, five different pH levels and five temperature regimes were evaluated for the vegetative growth of four different strains of Volvariella volvacea i.e. DMR-484, DMR-463, DMR-819 and DMR-820. Among five liquid media studied, malt extract was found to be the best medium for the growth of all the strains of V. volvacea both in solid as well as in liquid phase. Out of five different pH levels evaluated for the growth of V. volvacea pH7.0 was observed to be the best pH for the growth of all the strains of the test fungus. Out of five different temperature regimes evaluated, 30°C was observed to be the ideal temperature for the growth of V. volvacea.

Selected biological characteristics, including chlamydospore formation time, primordium formation time and biological efficiency of 25 strains of Volvariella volvacea from different sources during cultivation on cotton waste were compared.Strains V754,V26-1,V753,V751,3560 and 0229 exhibited superior biological characteristics and between 16% ~ 20% higher biological efficiencies, and were considered better suited for mushroom production in the Danyang region of Jiangsu Province.

The cost of production for ill-filled spawn is Rs. 4 as against Rs. 8 in sorghum grain spawn. In the existing system of bed preparation viz., circular compact method, highest yield with 30.46 per cent biological efficiency was recorded in ill-filled paddy spawn with above said treatment, but in new method viz., cylindrical polybag method, the same type of spawn with stripping off polybag on 7 th day after bed preparation the biological efficiency was increased to 67.74 per cent.By adopting hanging rope system of bed storage about 50.0 and 52.7 per cent increased yield and income were recorded respectively, compared to rack system.

We used paper lime depositsency as culture media to culture Volvariella volvacea instead some cotonseed shell. The results showed that the hyphae of Volvariella volvacea grew the fastest and the output was the highes in treatment(Sediment 20%+ wheat bran 10%+cottonseed skin70%.It indicated that using the paper lime depositsency instead some cotonseed shell to culture Volvariella volvacea won't affect the straw Volvariella Volvacea output and the method was feasible.

We used waste cotton?cottonseed shell?rice straw and wheat straw as culture media and cultured the volvariella volvacea. The result showed that the hyphae of volvariella volvacea grew the fastest and the output was the highest in the waste cotton(the biological efficiency was 32.02%).But in the wheat straw the hyphae of Volvariella Volvacea grew the slowest and the output was the lowest(The biological efficiency was 8.82%).So we could think that the waste cotton was the best medium for the growth of volvariella volvacea.
