Abstract:
The debugging is that an embedded system develops the essential important link in the course, it accounts for 20%~50% of the whole construction period. This text makes an introduction to the commonly used debugging method, analyzed and relatively debugging methods and the characteristic of the debugging tools. Have offered reference for choosing the suitable debugging tools under different conditions , contribute to the embedded system and debug the improvement of performance.Keywords:

The development of application software has quickly become the most expensive and people-intensive area of systems design. Depending on the nature of the software and with the advent of software quality controls, it has been estimated that each line of code can cost upwards of $50 to develop and debug (this rationale appears to hold true for both assembly language and high level language based algorithms). This being the case, it should be no surprise that debugging techniques have been subject to much rethinking recently and that debugging aids and systems are now being implemented in embedded controllers.

D188 environment is indispensable to support the application of a high performance DSP. In this work, an efficient debugging environment customized for a domestic self-designed DSP chip is designed and implemented. The debugging environment is based on Eclipse platform and extends the CDT debugging framework. A customized debugger and several debug functions are integrated into the debugging environment. The debugging environment can also support debugging different cores in a multi-core DSP. Experimental results show that the debugging environment can reduce the debugging difficulty and improve the debugging efficiency.

In the embedded system development,debug technology is good or bad,seriously affect the efficiency of embedded systemsdevelopment and software quality.At present,the embedded system debugging methods are mainly based on hardware,software andsimulator technology,the three kinds of methods,they have their own advantages and disadvantages,and possible applications.Software simulator simulated a hardware platform,with a good controllable.Therefore,Simulator based software debugging techniques,notonly has the ease of use,but also because it can be simulated a certain degree of hardware debugging method,which has a morepowerful debugging features.Remote debugging method is a basic debugging method of embedded systems development,this article,onfull system simulator SIMSOC basis,design and implement based remote debugging system,to achieve its objectives program's sourcecode-level and the machine code-level debugging.
