    Abstract:
A polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)/polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) blend ultrafiltration(UF) membrane was prepared by phase inversion method. The experimental results showed that the blend membrane significantly increased the water flux of PVDF membrane as well as kept the excellent chemical stability and high rejection for vitamin B 12 .

The hydrophilic small molecular weight cut-off(MWCO) blend ultrafiltration(UF) membranes were prepared by phase inversion method with the raw materials of polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) and polyvinyl acetate(PVAc). In this paper, the comparision of chemical stability between PVDF UF membrane and PVDF/PVAc blend UF membrane was studied and the results indicated that, the chemical stability of PVDF/PVAc blend membranes was good. On the premise of same retention, the water flux of blend membrane, with weak solvent post-treatment, was significantly increased.

Polyvinyledenefluoride-polystyrene (PVDF/PS) blend ultrafiltration membranes were prepared using phase inversion technique. Casting solutions were prepared with different compositions of poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and polystyrene (PS) both in the presence and absence of the additive, poly (vinylpyrolidone) (PVP) using dimethylacetamide as solvent. The effects of compositions of PS and concentrations of PVP on shrinkage ratio, pure water flux and percentage of water content of the blend ultrafiltration membranes were studied. The application of the PVDF/PS blend membranes in separation of toxic heavy metal ions from aqueous streams was also attempted and the results are discussed.

PVDF/ hydrophilicity polymer blend membrane were prepared by phase-inversion method. The compatibility of PVDF and B were characterized by viscosity and DSC,etc, and the porosity, pure water flux and rejection of the blend membrane were investigated. The results indicate that PVDF/ B blend system is partly miscible. When the blend ratio of PVDF/B is equal to 9:1,the content of polymer is 16%,the pure water flux is 416.0 L/m2·h and rejection for BSA is 92.8%.

The objective of this study is to investigate the potential of ultrafiltration polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-titanium dioxide (TiO2) membrane for oil-in-water separator. PVDF polymeric matrix membrane is excellent in term of chemical and thermal stabilities, which make it very promising to be used as a membrane matrix for water separation. However, poor hydrophilic property of the PVDF has led to the severe fouling during operation. Thus, current work was performed to investigate the effect of incorporation of two additives i.e. polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) in PVDF-TiO2 membrane, which fabricated using dry/wet phase inversion technique. Membranes characterizations were performed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), contact angle and UV-vis spectrophotometer. Accordingly, modified PVDF membrane possessed good hydrophilicity property when the additives were added into PVDF-TiO2 membrane matrix. In term of filtration performance, the experimental results showed that oil rejection using PVDF-TiO2/PVP membrane were ~99.7%, which met the requirement for discharge. On the other hand, PVDF-TiO2/PEG membrane was shown more enhancement in terms of permeate flux by given over 64 (L/m2h) at pressure of 2 bar gauge.

Hydrophilic Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) flat ultrafiltration membranes were prepared by wet-spinning method. The influence of blending ratio ( the mass ratio of PVDF and PAA), polymer concentration on preparation of blending modified hydrophilic PVDF ultrafiltration membranes were investigated, the technical parameters of preparation of hydrophilic PVDF membranes were determined, and hydrophilic PVDF membranes were prepared. Then, hydrophilic PVDF membranes were characterized in terms of IR spectra, contact angle, scanning electron microscopy images, pure water flux and rejection. The results showed that hydrophilic ultrafiltration membrane could be prepared with PAA and PVDF blends, the hydrophilicity improved greatly, and it was better than traditional PVDF membrane.
