One of well-known routing protocol for ad hoc networks is zone routing protocol (ZRP). The performance of ZRP is better than other protocols. However, many useless control packets are used resulting in the increase of network load and decrease of network performance. In this paper, we propose a selective border-casting zone routing protocol (SBZRP) to reduce the network load by limiting the number of control packets when the protocol searches for a new route. The performance evaluation via simulations shows that the SBZRP has better performance than ZRP.

In large and dense mobile Ad Hoc networks,position-based routing protocols can offer significant performance improvement over topology-based routing protocols by using location information to make forwarding decisions.Though many papers are about secure routing protocol in Ad Hoc now,few consider the security of the protocol based on location. The new protocol that enhanced the original Grid Location Service(GLS)protocol was proposed. To adapt to the high mobility of Ad Hoc network,SGRP completed the TESLA by adding the authentication process as new node entering networks. The simulation result shows that the new protocol can isolate the spiteful node initiating interruption at tack effectively.

In this paper, we propose an intelligent routing protocol for wide-area Ad Hoc network. This protocol was designed based on both the on-demand routing protocol and table-driven routing protocol. In our routing protocol, QoS guarantee mechanism was taken into consideration, and business was divided into three types and each type enjoys different service priorities. So it's an intelligent routing protocol supporting distinguishing service. It builds its routing information through the way of cross-layer and protocols exchange, etc. After analyzing the routing information, it builds a knowledge database and this database can update itself. Its decisions of routing strategy and mode choice, in the early construct routing strategy, were made based on the specific need of messages and the business in the database. According to the strategy result, it's able to finish the path's self-establishment, self-configuration and self-maintenance. It balances the need of users QoS and the whole network QoS.

In the Ad hoc network, transmission was achieved by wireless multi-jump link of moving nodes. Therefore, development of a type of dynamic routing protocol which can effectively locate the route between the nodes was the key to design the Ad hoc network. In accordance with the features of the ad hoc network, the existed Ad hoc routing protocols and their weaknesses were analyzed to offer a method to improve typical routing protocols and provide a time-shared routing protocol for simulation.
