    Abstract:
Objective To study clinical characteristics of patients who suffered from vertebral fracture and had percutaneous vertebroplasty operation. Methods 309 cases with vertebral fracture and percutaneous vertebroplasty operation were reviewed from May,2006 to June,2009.Information was got through case evaluation, including sex, age, diagnosis, induced factors of fracture, history of chronic disease, history of operation, and medication treatment. Results Among the 309 patients, there were 181 cases of osteoporotic vertebral fractures, average age 72.42±8.49 years old,101 cases of vertebral metastases, average age 60.08±12.62 years old,6 cases of vertebral hemangioma, one case of spinal benign lesion,18 cases of trauma. The female vertebral fracture patients were more than those of male, and T_(12),L_1,L_2 were the most frequent sites of vertebral fracture. The chronic diseases were complicated, for example, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, and using of glucocorticoids.Falls were the main induced factors of vertebral fracture. In the duration of osteoporosis, patients often suffer from multi-vertebral fracture, and operations more than once were needed. Conclusion It is important to prevent and treat the risk factors of osteoporosis,in order to reduce the occurrence of vertebral fracture.
