Abstract:
As a natural and functional pigment, Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides Ellis) yellow pigment is becoming more and more popular. In this paper, Gardenia yellows characteristics and deterioration of quality , especially its extraction and purification, are reviewed. Some suggestions are given on the production of high-quality Gardenia yellow pigment.Keywords:

In this paper,the preparation of gardenia yellow pigment were studied,the extracting effect of gardenia yellow pigment was better while using 60% vol alcohol as extracting agent.The absorbance value A440nm was about three times of water extraction.The process conditions were that solid-liquid ratio 1∶10,extraction temperature 60℃,extraction time 3h.The gardenia yellow pigment of refined by AB-8 macroporous resin compared with the crude product,natural pigment increased by 7 times.Using pretreated gardenia yellow waste as raw material,strains to convert for gardenia red pigment was screened,and Aspergillus niger-5 was obtained,gardenia red conversion liquid with maximum absorption wavelength at 528nm.

Gardenia yellow is the natural pigment which extracted from gardenia,and it has extensive application in food,medical,and cosmetics field.At present,as the production technology of gardenia yellow pigment is complex with the low colourity and the low yield,producing gardenia yellow pigment with high purity and high colourity has been one of the research focuses these years.In this paper,the research results of gardenia yellow pigment in the last ten years were reviewed according to the methods of extraction and purification.Especially,the chemical component of gardenia and the technology condition of extraction and purification were discussed.The future development of gardenia yellow was suggested as well.

Objective To investigate the technology of separation and purification technology of Gardenia yellow pigment from macroreticular resin.Methods The technology Gardenia yellow pigment separated by FU02 macroreticular resin was performed in evaluate the recovery and purity of Gardenia yellow pigment.Results While Gardenia yellow pigment separated by FU02 macroreticular resin,the optimum dynamic adsorption condition was about 5 g/L Gardenia yellow pigment concentration,30-32 g/L Geniposide concentration and 1.0 Bv/h velocity of flow,recovery rate of Gardenia yellow pigment upward 82.5% and 69.7% geniposide could be removed.The optimum dynamic desorption condition was 80% ethanol concentration and 2.0 Bv/h velocity of flow,elution rate of Gardenia yellow pigment attain 96.0% and A238/A440 value of Gardenia yellow pigment reach 0.35-0.38.Conclusion The technology Gardenia yellow pigment separated by FU02 macroreticular resin are convenient mothod to isolation and purification of gardenia yellow pigment.

As a fine and widely used natural pigment,yellow pigment in gardenia has the efficacies of clearing heat and anti-inflammation,anticancer,cooling blood,reducing cholesterol and cholagogic effect.In order to provide more references for industrialization development and fully utilization of gardenia,the researches on extraction and purification of yellow pigment in gardenia were reviewed,and development direction of production techniques of yellow pigment in gardenia was pointed out.

The high purity of gardenia yellow pigment and the waste containing high concentration of geniposide were obtained by the adsorption and elution of gardenia yellow pigment extract on macroporous adsorption resin AB-8.Four molds and two Bacillus strains were screened and applied to the fermentation experiment of the gardenia yellow waste for conversion of gardenia blue pigment.Among the molds,strain 2# and 4# exhibited the better efficiency for converting blue,and the color value of their fermentation broth was 129.0,171.5,respectively,which reached the standard of the international market.For the two Bacillus strains,the Bacillus subtilis showed the better efficiency for converting blue,and the color value of its fermentation broth was 48.9.
