    Abstract:
    Objective To investigate the influence on tear film of different eye drops before laser in situ keartomileusis(LASIK).Methods Patients with LASIK from December 2010 to March 2011 were divided into 2 groups:Group Ⅰ used antibiotic eye drops(Ofloxacin) at 3 days before operation;GroupⅡ used antibiotic eye drops(Ofloxacin) and sodium hyaluronate eye drops at 3 days before operation.Schirmer Ⅰ test,tear break-up time(BUT),corneal fluorescine staining and optical coherence tomography(OCT) were taken.At 3 days after using different eye drops,lacrimal riuer was detected with OCT again,and compared with the outcomes before using eye drops.Results OCT results of lacrimal riuer before using eye drops:area was(0.025±0.015)mm2,length was(248.59±77.33)mm and height was(179.26±45.20)μm for lacrimal riuer in Group Ⅰ,area was(0.021±0.015)mm2,length was(228.77.59±46.47)mm and height was(179.12±438.70)μm for lacrimal riuer in GroupⅡ.There was statistical difference in length of lacrimal riuer(P=0.003).The OCT results of lacrimal riuer at 3 days after using eye drops:area was(0.021±0.013)mm2,length was(225.32±54.80)mm and height was(171.65±40.30)μm for lacrimal riuer in Group Ⅰ,area was(0.025±0.017)mm2,length was(248.27±82.80)mm and height was(189.95±53.80) μm for lacrimal riuer in GroupⅡ.The height of lacrimal riuer in GroupⅡ was higher than that in GroupⅠ(P=0.048).Area and length of lacrimal riuer in Group Ⅰwere lowered after using eye drops(P=0.047,0.011);The three index increased after using eye drops,and there was statistical difference in length of lacrima riuer(P=0.04).Conclusion Using antibiotic eye drops(Ofloxacin) and sodium hyaluronate eye drops before LASIK,can lower the side effect of antibiotic eye drops and increase eye tears.

    Objective To investigate the changes in tear flow after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK) at high altitude area.Methods Schirmer I experiment and tear film break-up time(BUT)determination were performed in 240 eye after LASIK.Results Mean values of Schimer Ⅰ were 10 mm in 14 eyes(5.83%),it was 5~9 mm in 140 eye(58.33%),it was 5 mm in 86 eyes(35.83%).BUT was 15~35 s is 5 cases(10 eyes,4.17%),10~15s in 6 cases(12 eyes,5.00%),10s in 109 cases(218 eyes,90.83%).Conclusion Laser in situ keratomileusis at high altitude area significantly alter the tear break-up time and Schirmer I test values.

    To analyze the effectiveness of artificial tear drops Thealoz (trehalose 3%) in the correction of dry eye syndrome (DES) after keratorefractive surgery based on instrumental monitoring of the condition of eye surface.The study included 20 patients (40 eyes) who underwent a keratorefractive surgery and were prescribed instillations of Thealoz artificial tear drops for the correction of dry eye syndrome. Patients were divided into 2 groups: the 1st group consisted of 10 patients who underwent ReLEx SMILE surgery, the 2nd group - 10 patients after FEMTO LASIK. The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated at 1 and 3 months after the surgery using conventional instrumental monitoring: tear break-up time (Norn's test), tear film osmolarity test and OCT-meniscometry.Regardless of the type of surgery, tear film break-up time has significantly increased from 11.16±0.38 sec to 12.95±0.24 (p≤0.05) and 13.85±0.03 (p≤0.05) by months 1 and 3, respectively; it correlated with progressive decrease of tear film osmolarity from 317.29±1.39 to 308.00±0.79 mOsm/L (p≤0.05) at one month, and by the 3rd month - to 301.75±0.27 mOsm/L (p≤0.05). An improvement in OCT-meniscometry parameters was also observed in the form of a significant increase of the height and depth after 1 and 3 months.The use of artificial tear drops Thealoz contributes to the reduction of DES manifestations after keratorefractive surgery: increased stability of the tear film, restoration of the tear meniscus parameters and tear film osmolarity. The use of trehalose ophthalmic solution is advisable in patients after keratorefractive surgery.Цель - анализ эффективности применения слезозаместительного препарата Теалоз в коррекции синдрома сухого глаза (ССГ) после кераторефракционных хирургических вмешательств на основе инструментального мониторинга состояния глазной поверхности. Материал и методы. Проанализированы результаты лечения 20 пациентов (40 глаз), которым после кераторефракционных вмешательств назначен препарат Теалоз в инстилляциях для коррекции ССГ. Пациентам 1-й группы (20 глаз) выполнена операция ReLEx SMILE, 2-й группы (20 глаз) - FEMTO LASIK. Эффективность лечения ССГ оценивали через 1 и 3 мес после вмешательства на основании комплексного инструментального мониторинга состояния глазной поверхности: времени стабильности слезной пленки (проба Норна), осмолярности слезы и ОКТ-менискометрии. Результаты. На фоне применения слезозаместительного препарата Теалоз независимо от выбранного метода хирургического вмешательства достоверно увеличились показатели времени разрыва слезной пленки с 11,16±0,38 с до 12,95±0,24 (р≤0,05) и 13,85±0,03 с (р≤0,05) к 1-му и 3-му месяцу лечения соответственно, что коррелировало с прогрессивным снижением значений осмолярности слезы с 317,29±1,39 до 308,00±0,79 (р≤0,05) через 1 мес и наиболее значимо к 3-му месяцу после операции - 301,75±0,27 мОсм/л (р≤0,05). Отмечено улучшение показателей ОКТ-менискометрии в виде достоверного увеличения высоты и глубины через 1 и 3 мес. Заключение. Применение препарата Теалоз способствует уменьшению проявлений ССГ после кераторефракционных вмешательств: повышению стабильности слезной пленки, восстановлению параметров слезного мениска и осмолярности слезы. Применение препарата трегалозы Теалоз целесообразно у пациентов, перенесших кераторефракционные вмешательства в послеоперационном периоде.

    Objective To evaluate the effects of tears naturale forte eye drops in the treatment of dry eye after LASIK. Methods Forty-five patients(90 eyes)with dry eye at one month after LASIK were enrolled in this study.Subjective complaints,Schirmer I test and tear break-up time(BUT)were observed 1 months after treatment with tears naturale forte eye drops. Results BUT value after use of drug was significantly longer than that before use of drug(4.33±1.47 seconds versus 2.86±1.62 seconds)(P0.05). Schirmer I test value was significantly ascent after use of drug in comparison with before use of drug(7.97±3.48 mm versus 6.14±3.55 mm)(P0.05). Conclusion Tears natural forte eye drops is effective on the dry eye after LASIK.

    Objective To analyze the effect of Timolol eye drops on refractive regression of eyes treated with laser epithelial keratomileusis(LASEK) for the correction of myopia.Methods Eighty-eight eyes of 50 patients with post-operative refractive regression from a population of 734 patients(1410 eyes) who had undergone a LASEK procedure and had been followed up for at least one year were included in this study.The eyes were divided into two groups and both groups underwent treatment for two weeks:one group was treated with Timolol eye drops and the other group(control group) was treated with diclofenac sodium eye drops.Visual acuity and intraocular pressure were measured in the two groups after the eye drop administration and the results were compared.Results The change in visual acuity for the group treated with Timolol eye drops showed a variation of -1~4 lines with an average change of(1.67±1.16)lines and the change in visual acuity for the control group showed a variation of -2~2 lines,with an average change of(-0.12±0.93)lines.There was a significant difference between the two groups(t=5.161,P0.01).The intraocular pressure(IOP) of the group treated with Timolol eye drops showed a decrease that ranged from 1 to 3 mmHg,with an average decrease of(1.51±0.34)mmHg.The change in the IOP of the control group ranged from -1~1 mmHg,with an average drop of(0.53±0.38)mmHg.There was a significant difference between the IOPs of the two groups(t=12.77,P0.01).Conclusion Timolol eye drops are an effective agent for treating eyes with refractive regression after laser epithelial keratomileusis for myopia correction.

    Purposes: To assess the tear osmolarity using the TearLab device after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and to compare the values with those obtained by traditional tear film tests before and after the procedure. Methods: Thirty eyes of 15 refractive surgery candidates (5 men and 10 women of mean age: 30.55 ± 11.79 years) were examined. Using a special questionnaire (Ocular Surface Disease Index), subjective dry eye complaints were evaluated, and then, the tear osmolarity was measured with the TearLab system (TearLab Corporation) and conventional dry eye tests were carried out. Examinations were performed preoperatively and at 1, 30, and 60 days after the surgery. Results: The mean value of tear osmolarity was 303.62 ± 12.29 mOsm/L before the surgery and 303.58 ± 20.14 mOsm/L at 60 days after the treatment (P = 0.69). Mean lid parallel conjunctival folds value was 0.68 ± 0.68 before the procedure and 0.58 ± 0.65 subsequent to surgery (P = 0.25). Meibomian gland dysfunction was not detected. No significant deviation was observed in the values of Schirmer test, corneal staining, tear break-up time, and lid parallel conjunctival folds when compared with postoperatively obtained values during the follow-up period (P > 0.05). Conclusions: During LASIK flap creation, intact corneal innervation is damaged, and the ocular surface lacrimal functional unit can be impaired. In our study, no abnormal dry eye test results were observed before or after the procedure. Based on our results, LASIK treatment is safe for dry eye involving the administration of adequate artificial tears for a minimum of 3 months.

    Objective:To observe the changes in the function of tear film after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK) for myopia.Methods: One hundred myopic patients (186 eyes) treated with LASIK were evaluated for tear flow(Schirmer I test),tear break-up time(BUT) tests and fluorescein staining scores before operation and at l week,l month and 3 month intervals after the operation.Results:(1) the mean values of Schirmer I were(15.89±6.70) mm preoperatively;(12.08±7.30)mm,(10.43±5.52)mm,(11.56±6.82)mm at l week,l month and 3 months postoperatively(P0.05).(2) The mean BUT were(12.83±5.04) seconds preoperatively,(9.07±6.40) seconds,(8.74±7.56) seconds and(10.23±5.76) seconds at l week,l month and 3 months postoperatively(P0.05).(3) The FL staining was intensified at l week postoperatively as compared with before operation.Conclusion: LASIK caused a decrease in tear film stability and tear secretion early stage after operation,probably due to decreased corneal sensation after LASIK.

    Objective To analyze the effect of Timolol eyedrops on refractive regression after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK).Methods Eighty-eight eyes of 54 patients with post-operative refractive regression from a population of 821 patients(1621 eyes) who had undergone a LASIK procedure and had been followed up for at least one year were included in this study.The eyes were divided into two groups and both groups underwent treatment for three months:one group was treated with 0.25% Timolo eye drops and the other group(control group) was treated with 0.1% Pranoprofen eye drops.Visual acuity and intraocular pressure were measured in the two groups after the eye drop administration and the results were compared. Results The improvement in visual acuity for the group treated with Timolol eye drops showed a variation of 1~4 lines with an average change of(3.17±1.16)lines and the change in visual acuity for the control group showed a variation of-2~2 lines,with an average change of(-0.12±0.93)lines.There was a significant difference between the two groups(t=5.46,P0.01).The intraocular pressure(IOP) of the group treated with Timolol eye drops showed a decrease that ranged from 2~6 mmHg,with an average decrease of(4.08±0.34)mmHg.The change in the IOP of the control group ranged from-1~1 mmHg,with an average drop of(0.23±0.38)mmHg.There was a significant difference between the IOPs of the two groups(t=11.16,P0.01). Conclusion 0.25% Timolol eye drops are an effective agent for treating eyes with refractive regression after LASIK for myopia correction.It is a simple,easy,and effective treatment.

    To evaluate the lacrimal film changes and the effects of artificail tears on the lacrimal film after vitrectomy.Methods:60 patients(60 eyes)undergoing vitrectomy were randomly divided into two groups.Postoperatively,Group A(30 eyes)was dropped with TobraDex,while group B (30 eyes),with TorbraDex and artificial tears (Dextran 70 Eye Drops). Dry eye symptoms were inquired,and tear break-up time(BUT),Schirmer I test(Sit)value and corneal fluorescein staining(CFS) were measured 1 day preoperatively plus3,7,14,30 days postoperatively.The results were analyzed statistically.Results:(1)No significant differences existed in two groups at 1 day preoperatively;(2)At four checkpoints postoperatively,significant differences existed in two groups,besides BUT were always longer in group B;(3)At 7 and 14 days postoperatively,the dry eye symptoms scores and GFS scores were less in group B with significant differences.Conclusions:Lacrimal film stability was decreased in earlier period after vitrectomy,and artificial tears could accelerate the recovery of lacrimal film stability.

    Objective To study the difference of the tear film changes of four types artificial tear in treatment of dry eye after phacoemulsification by spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT). Methods This clinical study included 40 patients (40 eyes) having dry eye after phacoemulsification, 10 patients used Tears Naturale Forte Eye Drops (group A), 10 patients used Polyethylene Glycol Eye Drops (group B), 10 patients used Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drops (group C), 10 patients used Carboxxymethylcellulose Sodium Eye Drop (group D). Total tear meniscus area (TTMA) was measured before and at differeat times after treatment. Results In the group A and B, TTMA was statistically significantly (P <0.05) better than preoperatively at 0 minute, 10 minute, 20 minute, 30 min-ute and 45 minute. In the group C and D, TTMA was statistically significantly (P <0.05) better than preoperatively at 0 minute and 10 minute. Comparison among groups, at 10 minute, TTMA of group B was statistically significantly (P=0.020, P=0.011) better than group C and group D. At 20 minute TT-MA of group A and group B was statistically significantly (P=0.006, P=0.005, P=0.004, P=0.003) better than group C and group D. Even at 45minute, TTMA of group B was statistically significantly (P=0.040, P=0.016) better than group C and group D. Conclusions Polyethylene Glycol Eye Drops and Tears Naturale Forte Eye Drops are better in treatment of dry eye after phacoemulsification, and q1h is recommended.     Objective To observe and evaluate the effect of esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops for dry eye after LASIK.Methods Fifty-six post-LASIK patients (112 eyes) were recruited in the study,break-up time (BUT) were less than 5 seconds,contact lens were removed as least 2 weeks.Patients had complaints such as dry and sore eye,and were divided into experimental group (30 cases,60 eyes) and control group (26 cases,52 eyes),the patients in experiment group received the esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops,and the control group received sodium hyaluronate eye drops.The postoperative BUT,subjective symptom scoring,corneal fluorescein staining scoring and corneal aberration in two groups were observed and compared.Results BUT at postoperative 1 day,1 week,2 weeks and 4 weeks were (2.52±0.98)seconds,(2.88±1.14)seconds,(3.03±1.49)seconds and (2.90±1.44)seconds in experimental group,respectively,which were (2.46±0.68)seconds,(2.74±0.82)seconds,(2.76±0.77)seconds and (2.67±0.80)seconds in control group,respectively,there was no statistical difference between different time points(P0.05),but a increasing trend was found in the two groups.The subjective symptom scoring at postoperative 1 day,1 week,2 weeks and 4 weeks were 3.82±1.91,3.50±2.30,3.13±2.33 and 2.60±2.45 in experimental group,respectively,which were 4.54±2.94,3.77±2.41,3.69±2.25 and 3.00±1.94 in control group,respectively,there were significant differences between different time points in two groups(Experiment group:P=0.024;Control group:P=0.016).There was no statistical difference in postoperative BUT,corneal fluorescein staining scoring and corneal aberration between two groups (all P0.05).Conclusion Esculin and digitalisglycosides eye drops is effective and safe for dry eye after LASIK.
