Abstract:
General Surgery is losing its appeal and is facing a critical shortage of surgeons. It therefore has to change and adapt to this new reality and we surgeons are responsible for meeting this challenge. If we want students and residents to embrace surgery we need to show them the rewards and satisfaction that we derive from the profession. A 5 year curriculum is needed to train the "abdominal surgery" or "general surgery specialist," who will maintain and teach comprehensive care of the surgical patient and practice a more limited scope of surgical procedures. In addition, we should train a limited number of disease-oriented specialists by means of 1-2 year fellowships.Keywords:

Objective: Many branches of science are constantly changing and developing according to the innovations and the requirements of the era. Developments and medical information, especially in the field of medicine, renew itself every year. In this study, we aimed to analyze comparatively the place of anatomy education, which has an important place in undergraduate medical education, in the National Core Education Program (NCEP)-2020.
Material and Methods: In this study, the categories of basic medical practices in NCEP-2020, clinical symptoms/findings/situations, core diseases/clinical problems and the relationship between learning levels and anatomy education were evaluated one by one. Parameters were expressed in percentile using a descriptive statistical method. There are 157 Basic Medical Practices in 9 sub-categories (A-I) within the scope of NCEP-2020.
Results: It was determined that 48 of these were related to anatomy education. The number of basic medical practice was mostly in the E sub-category (n=23, 47.92%). The second sub-category with the highest number of basic medical practices was determined as B (n=16, 33.33%).
Conclusion: One of the important conclusions we have reached within the scope of the study is that NCEP-2020 has an important place in terms of scope in determining, developing and standardizing the educational curricula of medical faculties.

India is in dire need of an alternative to general medical practitioners to overcome a severe shortage of doctors, especially in rural and underprivileged regions. Empowering nurses through nurse practitioner (NP) role is the superlative solution to provide quality health care in primary care setting. Based on conceptions and research findings of the NP' s role, we analyzed and examined the realities, scope, and barriers for implementing the NP' s role in India and propose future strategies to create a NP cadre.

The expansion of the scope of optometric practice has put tremendous pressures on the curricula of the optometric teaching institutions. The pressures and the solutions that have been proposed in the optometric literature are outlined. The possibility of eliminating portions of the curriculum that have traditionally been regarded as the educational foundation of the practice of optometry and what effect this would have on the very definition of the term "optometry" is discussed.

The quality of training is a major contributor to workforce proficiency in healthcare, and there is a definite need to achieve a uniform level of knowledge and skill in medical education programmes. There is a paucity of literature comparing postgraduate anaesthesia medical education training structure and requirements across the globe. In a zeal to achieve uniform competencies and technical skills, the strengths and scope of training programmes need to be identified. In this article, we describe the core elements of postgraduate training in various countries while proposing an amalgamation of strengths of each programme and providing a roadmap to evolve further the competency-based comprehensive curriculum proposed by the National Medical Commission of India.
