Abstract:
Effect of different grafting rootstock on the characters of Cantaloup was studied. The results showed that, Xuetielong and Shengzhan No.1 were appropriate for graft cultivation, the performance of affinity was good, growth vigour was strong, it had strong resistance to disease, good quality and high production.Cite
Six different cultvars of Lagenaria and Cucurbita were selected as rootstocks for analysis of survival rate,characters in different time after grafting and yield of grafted cucumber seedlings.The results indicated that bottle gourd Huahuza No.3 and Heizi pumpkin were good rootstocks with good affinity with cucumber.The six cultivars of stocks could be classified into three groups by cluster analysis of characters.

Introduction.Grafting onto kiwifruit seedlings is a common method for propagation.Grafting success rate depends on both the rootstock and grafting type.Materials and methods.The present study examines the effect of three grafting types on two locally prevailing rootstocks of the kiwifruit 'Hayward' in a factorial experiment based on a randomized complete block design with two factors.The first factor was the graft type at three levels (cleft, tongue and side grafting) and the second factor was rootstock at two levels ('Matua' and 'Bruno') with three replications.The measured traits included graft union percentage, scion growth, leaf area index, specific leaf area, leaf weight ratio, graft union height, number of suckers and allometric coefficient.Results and discussion.It was found that the highest graft union percentage (100%) was obtained under treatment cleft grafting × 'Bruno' rootstock and tongue grafting × 'Matua' rootstock, whereas the lowest graft union (66.7%) was observed in 'Matua' rootstock grafted by cleft method.Scion growth in tongue graft combination was better than other treatments.The treatment of side grafting × 'Bruno' rootstock had the highest scion growth and the treatment of cleft grafting × 'Matua' rootstock had the lowest growth.The highest number of suckers was observed under tongue grafting × 'Bruno' rootstock and the lowest number was obtained in the treatment of cleft grafting × 'Matua' rootstock.Conclusion.Cleft grafting for 'Bruno' rootstock and tongue grafting for 'Matua' rootstock with 100% success were the best and acceptable treatments.

Two different grafting methods,one-stage(one rootstock + one scion)and two-stage(rootstock 1 + rootstock 1 + scion),were used to test the effects of grafting combinations on watermelon plant growth and fruit quality.Watermelon cultivar Zhongke No.1,a high quality seeded watermelon with large fruit size,was the scion for all rootstock varieties and combination.For one-stage grafting,Kangshengwang,Chaofeng F1,Xijia Qiangsheng,Jingxinzhen No.3,Wild Watermelon No.1 and Wild Watermelon No.2 were used as rootstocks.For two-stage grafting,Xijia Qiangsheng was used as the base rootstock and Chaofeng F1 was used as the inter-stock.The results showed that plant growth,disease resistance,fruit weight,yield,central sugar content,flesh pectin content of the two-stage grafted watermelon were the best among all grafting combinations.The flesh crispness of the two-stage grafted watermelon was not significantly different from other combinations tested.Interspecific squash rootstocks Xijia Qiangsheng and Jingxinzhen No.3 are recommended for watermelon grafting production,and two-stage grafting method has some value for watermelon production.

ナスの接ぎ木栽培における台木の品種や性状および台木の葉が穂木の生育に及ぼす影響を明らかにするために, 台木の摘葉などの処理を行った. また, 接ぎ木時の光合成産物の動態を解析して葉の果たす役割について解析を行った.1.台木品種'赤ナス'および'耐病VF'に接ぎ木した場合の穂木の生育は, '千両2号を台木した場合と比べ, 穂木の乾物重で接ぎ木28日後でおおむね2倍に達した. 一方, 根重については'千両2号'で若干少ない傾向が見られたが, 大きな差ではなかった. 穂木の葉面積でも葉重の変化と同様の傾向を示し, 穂木の生育に及ぼす影響に品種間差が認められた.2.台木の葉数を変えた場合の穂木の生育に及ぼす影響をみると, 台木葉数の多い区の穂木の葉重•根重および葉面積は大きく, 生育期間の経過とともにその差は拡大した. これらの結果から台木の葉数すなわち葉面積が穂木の生育に大きく関与しているものと考えられる.3.接ぎ木後28日に台木の葉に14CO2を施与した場合の光合成産物の分配は, 穂木への分配率は35~40%となり, 穂木の茎, 葉および生長点部への分配はほぼ等分になっていた. 台木内では根と茎への分配がほぼ30%前後で台木内の葉への分配は少なかった.また, 穂木の葉についてみると, 穂木と台木にほぼ50%ずつ分配されていることが認められた.4.各器官の相対的なシンクの強さであるRSSをみると, 穂木の葉に対して根は強いシンクとして機能していないことが認められた. 一方, 穂木の生長点部は台木および穂木の葉に対して強いシンクとなり, 穂木の葉に施与した場合は, 台木の葉と比べて, 著しく高い値を示した. 以上の結果から, 光合成産物は台木および穂木から接ぎ木部分を通過して移動していること, 穂木の生長に対する台木の貢献は, 接ぎ木直後の初期生育時や生長点部に対して比較的高いこと, 穂木も台木の生長に貢献していることが認められた. これらの結果は, 台木の葉数が異なる場合の接ぎ木苗の初期生育に台木の葉の光合成産物が関与していることを示唆するものである.

Six grape cultivars which are widely planted in Guizhou province were grafted on six wild Vitis species native in Guizhou to form 12 combinations of grafting different cultivars on the same rootstock and the same scion grafting on different rootstocks,and the grafting affinity between the rootstock and the scion was studied. Different wild Vitis species used as rootstocks in his study showed different grafting affinity with the cultivar ‘Crystal’,V. quinquangularis being the best and V. bellulla the poorest. Of the grape cultivars grafted onto V. quinquangularis,‘Ribier’ performed best,followed by ‘Crystal’ and ‘Red Globe’,based on the survival rate of the grafts and on scion growth vigor of the year. The growth vigor of the rootstock affected the grafting survival rate greatly. It is concluded that greenwood grafting shouldn't be carried out too late,or else it will negatively influence shoot development and its overwintering.

Rootstocks of Ziyan series possessed the characteristics of high grafting affinity,strong symbiotic affinity and was immune to blight,and they were grafted with the local cultivated watermelon cultivar Jingxin No.1(as the scion cultivar),to test and analyze the grafting affinity,resistance to blight,yield and quality of the grafted seedlings.The results showed that the watermelons grafted with the Ziyan series rootstocks(taking Zhenwang and Zhenxianfeng for example) performed best comprehensive characters,and the Ziyan series rootstocks had the high application value.

Grafting is regarded as an integral component of sustainable vegetable production. It is important in the management of soil-borne diseases, and reports suggest that grafting with viable rootstocks can enhance crop growth and yield. This research was conducted using splices and cleft grafting techniques to investigate graft compatibility among varieties of high yielding eggplant scion (MCV1, MCV2, CCV1, CCV2, CCV3, NCV, and TCV) grafted onto wild rootstocks (MWR, BWR, and TWR) to study their morphophysiological and yield characteristics. High yielding scions grafted onto wild relative rootstocks were compared with two controls including self-grafted and non-grafted. All the scion had a high rate of germination (≥95%) and remarkable graft success (100%) was recorded in MCV1, MCV2, and TCV using the cleft techniques. Generally, the use of rootstocks resulted in higher total and marketable fruit yield compared to the non-grafted and self-grafted scion plants, respectively. In particular, MWR and TWR rootstock conferred the highest vigour to the scion, resulting in the highest values recorded for total and marketable fruit yield, number of fruits per plant and average fruit weight. A similar result was obtained in fruit length and diameter, where long and wide fruits were observed in scions grafted onto MWR and TWR rootstocks, respectively. Grafting of high yielding eggplant scion onto resistant MWR, BWR and TWR eggplant rootstock was found to be beneficial for eggplant cultivation. The remarkable compatibility and vigour of the rootstock with scion led to the improvement in total and marketable yield of the fruits. As such, it can be concluded that the use of wild relative rootstocks of eggplant species can be a valuable method of improving eggplant production.

Five species of calabash grafted ZaoJia watermelon were analysed, include grafted affinity ,disease resistance and resistance to higher temperatures. The research showed that Huzhan No.2 rootstock possessed that the low temperature resistance and blight resistance, and the output of the watermelon grafts 13.0% more than the main cultivars of Japanese calabash root-stock , and the watermelon is fragile, sweet and good mouthfeel.

The effect of different rootstocks on the scion, Gege cherry tomato, was studied, such as Nongyou wild tomato, Tuolubamu, Jinzuan rootstock, Zhanmu No.1. The results showed that among the 4 rootstocks, the affinity was remarkably different, the first was Zhanmu No.1, then was Jinzuan rootstock, Tuolubamu was the last one. In terms of bacterial wilt, P. solanacerum, the difference between grafted seedlings and no-grafted seedlings was extremely remarkable; and the yield of grafted seedling increased by 15.9%-48.7%, specially for those using Nongyou wild tomato and Zhanmu No.1 as rootstock.
