Abstract:
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a disease entity defined as persistent pain after the acute pain of herpes zoster gradually resolves. It is associated with impaired daily activities, resulting in reduced quality of life. General epidemiological data on PHN is necessary for the effective management. However, data on the epidemiology of PHN in Korea is lacking. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological features of PHN in the general population.We used population-based medical data for 51,448,491 subscribers to the Health Insurance Service in the year of 2013 to analyze of PHN epidemiology in Korea, such as the incidence, regional distribution, seasonal variation, and healthcare resource utilization. Total number of patients and medical cost on PHN were analyzed from 2009 to 2013.Findings indicate that the incidence of PHN in Korea was 2.5 per 1000 person-years, which was strongly correlated with age and sex. There were no differences in seasonal variation or regional distribution. The medical cost increased steadily over the study period. When admitted to general hospitals, patients with PHN were mainly managed in the dermatology and anesthesiology departments.The incidence and prevalence rates of PHN in Koreans appear to be considerably higher compared to those in western populations, while the sex and age predisposition was similar. Considering that the pain associated with PHN can have a marked impact on a patient's quality of life resulting in a medicosocial economic burden, anesthesiology physicians have an important role in primary care in Korea. Future research on the cost-effectiveness of the management of PHN is needed.Keywords:

Seperti pada dewasa, teknik regional anestesi pada pediatrik kini makin popular digunakan oleh ahli anestesikarena keuntungannya. Namun demikian selalu ada risiko dan kemungkinan timbulnya komplikasi dari setiap tindakan yang dilakukan, termasuk tindakan anestesi regional pada pediatrik. Insidensi komplikasi anestesi regional pada pediatrik tidak banyak, dan kalaupun terjadi komplikasi adalah minor. Komplikasi bisa diakibatkan dari identifikasi ruang saraf, alat, obat, teknis tindakan anestesi regionalnya dan komplikasi lainnya.Walaupun tidak banyak kejadian komplikasi regional anestesi yang dilaporkan pada pediatrik, dan bukanlah komplikasi yang fatal, teknik regional anestesi pada pediatrik harus dilakukan dengan lebih hatihati, pertimbangan risiko dan keuntungannya untuk menghindari terjadinya komplikasi, terlebih karena kebanyakan komplikasi dapat dihindari dengan mempelajari teknik yang benar, menggunakan peralatan yang sesuai, dan sangat menerapkan prinsip keamanan pada pasien dengan baik.

Objective: This study was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of neurotropin on the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia in patients with herpes zoster. Methods: 78 patients with postherpetic neuralgia were randomly divided into three groups: the control group A, the trial group B and C receiving neurotropin by intravenous infusion at dosage of 3.6 or 10.8 u once daily respectively. Results: During the treatment, the degree of pain relieved in the trial groups was more markedly than that in the controls. Conclusion: The results suggest that neurotropin is an effective and safe agent for treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.

Objective To determine the efficacy of Yangxueqvfengtang in treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.Methods 70 patients with postherpetic neuralgia were randomly and divided into treatment group treated with Yangxueqvfengtang and control group treated with routine therapy.Results The total effective of the treatment group was 94.28 % and the control group was 74.28%.The incidence of herpes zoster pain and PHN was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion It is effective to treat postherpetic neuralgia with Yangxueqvfengtang..
