Abstract:
The bumper development of digital technology has impacted intensively on the traditional production process of movie film.Nowadays advanced digital technology provides a sound basis for the realization of the digitization of movie production.This paper expounds the concept of digital intermediate(DI),its production process flow and relevant technical devices.In the light of a comparison with the technical data of HD technology,the paper elucidates also the exceptional superiorities of digital technology in the video and audio areas.Keywords:

Digital Cinema is a promising application that utilizes high-speed optical networks to transfer super high definition images. The networks are primary used for distributing packet data of digital cinema contents, and are also used to support new services such as the live streaming of musicals and sports games to movie theaters. While current transfer services offer HD quality video, live streaming applications will soon shift to cinema quality 4K to both business and movie theaters users. The extra-high quality 4K enables a realistic tele-presence, and will be combined with special tools such as video editing systems to realize effective remote-collaboration for business workspaces. This paper introduces current research on super high definition image transmission and its application especially in digital cinema and relevant application fields.

The development of digital video telephony in the 1980's has made it possible to use digital video compression for a variety of telecommunication applications: teleconferencing, digital broadcast codes and video telephony. The computer industry, the telecommunication industry and the consumer electronics industry are increasingly sharing the above technology. A major driving force is the ongoing partial merging of TV and computers in interactive multimedia services involving digital TV and applications in areas like information(news), education, medical, entertainment etc. A major target is to maximize inter-operability of video services at all levels, including various resolutions, different transmission and storage mechanisms, as well as bit rates. The maturity of compression techniques needed for digital video storage and transmission, and the establishment of international standards for digital TV representation, like MPEG-2, have greatly contributed in this transformation. In the next decade, digital techniques will be applied comprehensively in broadcast television studios. Until recently, digital technology has had its greatest impact in applications involving control and maintenance aspects of studio and network design. The video signal path has not yet been subject to digital operation, although considerable research has been reported and much discussion has taken place. The paper reviews the prospects for digital studio developments in a practical context where costs, equipment complexity and the problems of transition are discussed alongside the hardware techniques required. The paper concentrates on those studioprocesses which are most likely to witness the first applications of digital techniques, e.g. recording and transmission; other aspects of studio developments are discussed in companion papers. It is generally concluded that much work remains to be done before a substantial move towards digital video signal path processing is possible. This move will probably be made when digital VTRs, mixers and sources, together with means of studio and network distribution, become available. This could be feasible by the later part of this decade.
