    Abstract:
    The fourth international symposium of IGCP507, “Paleoclimates of the Cretaceous in Asia and their global correlation” was held in Kumamoto, on December 1-6, 2009. The purpose of the symposium, which was organized by the Scientific Committee of the IGCP507 Symposium, was to investigate Cretaceous biodiversity, faunal changes, environments, and climate in Asia through geological analyses of rock and fossil records. Seventy participants registered to attend the conference from 10 countries, and gave 28 oral and 28 poster presentations, two keynote speeches, one workshop “Cretaceous to Recent bryozoans”, and five sessions addressing (1) Vertebrate evolution in Asia during the Cretaceous (thematic session), (2) Paleontology, (3) Paleoclimate, (4) Sedimentology, and (5) Tectonics, on December 4-5. There was a pre-symposium field excursion, “Cretaceous non-marine and shallow marine facies and fossils in western Kumamoto, Kyushu, Japan”, to northern parts of Amakusa Islands (December 1-3). The excursion focused on sedimentary processes, faunal changes in benthic molluscan fossils, and biostratigraphy in the mid-Cretaceous Goshoura and the Upper Cretaceous Himenoura groups. During the post-symposium field excursion, “Mifune Dinosaur Museum and Upper Cretaceous Dinosaur site in the Mifune Group, Kumamoto (December 6)”, participants visited a typical terrestrial vertebrate site and museum exhibitions.

    There has been a theoretical and practical base for sorting out and develo-ping the log sedimentology. Firstly, as seismofacies, log facies has been de-veloped to be a generalized concept of sedimentary facies, which can be translatedinto lithofacies and of which there exist various presentations accepted bygeologists and reservoir engineers. To be synthesized with facies and seismo-facies approach, the process of log facies study is basically divided into threephases: the single profile facies analysis, the cross-profile facies correlationand the surface profile correlation. The results from log sedimentology studyis of significance to regional exploration and field production. However, itshows that log sedimentology is a very multidisciplinary and multiorganiza-tional technique.

    This study was designed to examine the role of foot type, height, leg length, and range of motion (ROM) measurements on excursion distances while performing the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT), a test of dynamic postural control. Participants (n = 30) performed 3 trials of the SEBT in each of the 8 directions while balancing on the right and left legs. No statistically significant relations were found between foot type or ROM measurements and excursion distances with the SEBT. Significant correlations were revealed between height and excursion distance and leg length and excursion distance with leg length having the stronger correlation. Using raw excursion measures, males were found to have significantly greater excursion distances than females; however, after normalizing excursion distances to leg length, there were no significant differences related to gender. In conclusion, when using the SEBT for experimental or clinical purposes, participants' excursion distances should be normalized to leg length to allow for a more accurate comparison of performance among participants.

    Applying excursion theory, we re-express several well studied fluctuation quantities associated to Parisian ruin problem for L\'evy risk processes in terms of integrals with respect to excursion measure for spectrally negative L\'evy process. We show that these new expressions reconcile with the previous results on Parisian ruin problem.

    THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO DEVELOP A METHOD FOR MEASURING INTEGRATED ATTRACTION OF A SIGHTSEEING SITE AND FOR MODELLING EXCURSION BEHAVIOUR. I DIFINE THE INTEGTATED ATTRACTION AS THE SUM OF THAT BY EACH SITE'S OWN RESOURCES AND THE ACCESSIBILITY TO THE OTHER SITES WHERE HE CAN VISIT NEXT. I FORMULATE THE SIGHTSEEING EXCURSION BEHAVIOUR AS THE AGGREGATED NESTED LOGIT MODEL. I APPLIED THIS METHOD TO A SIGHTSEEING TRAVEL DEMAND FORECASTING PROCEDURE FOR THE MIDDLE KYUSHU AREA. IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS METHOD COULD ACCURATELY FORECAST NOT ONLY THE TOTAL NUMBER OF GUESTS BY SITE BUT ALSO THE NUMBER OF TRAVELLERS WHO CHOOSE A PARTICULAR EXCURSION PATTERN.

    This paper combines birth and death processes with Ito's excursion theory,and builds it's frame structure under Ito's excursion which mainly includes local time,inverse local time,excursion,excursion space,excursion measure.It shows that {Yt,t∈DY} is a poisson point processe,and birth and death processes have Markov property under P(·).The excursion theory for birth and death processes is established.

    Since seismic sedimentology come in China,in sedimentary facies prediction has been widely applied,but most of the researches for fluvial facies seismic sedimentology study.It is the lack of lake facies seismic sedimentology.Yuanba area of Daanzhai section for Binhu-shallow to semi-deep to deep lake facies.The Shelly limestone as the region's main oil gas reservoir.In this paper,under the guidance of sedimentology and seismic deposition,division of the Yuanba region of Daanzhai member facies distribution,through seismic forwarding and slicing technique to shallow lake Shelly beach facies to predict the distribution of.

    The field excursion entitled "Observing, Peeling, and Making Strata" took place on 10 September 2011, during the period of the annual meeting of the Geological Society of Japan. The excursion, which targeted school teachers, emphasized the field collection of peel specimens of sediments and the application of simplified laboratory flume experiments, as means to enhance earth science teaching materials and methods, and to thereby improve earth science education. During the excursion, all participants were familiarized with the technique of obtaining peel specimens of sediments and for conducting simplified flume experiments; as a consequence, participants showed favorable impressions of the excursion.
