Abstract:
This study is a further note on stability analysis for uncertain linear neutral stochastic system. Firstly, the stability of linear neutral stochastic system with mix delays is studied. By employing a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and novel method to estimate the integral terms, the less conservative stability criteria are obtained. Compared with previous results, the novel method can sufficiently utilise more negative items information. Then, in virtue of the Schur complement and linear matrix inequality technique, the robust stability of the uncertain neutral stochastic system is derived, which have less conservatism. Finally, two numerical examples show that the authors’ results are effective and less conservative than other reports in the previous literature. Keywords:

We present new results connecting the number of focal points of conjoined bases of symplectic difference systems Yi+1 = WiYi, W T i JWi = J and the negative inertia index of the Schur complement (i/Hi), where a 2n 2n symmetric matrixi is associated with Yi and Wi. We offer an algorithm for computing eigenvalues of 2n-order discrete Sturm Liouville eigenvalue problems based on discrete oscillation theorems and results of this paper.

As a kind of political thought, conservatism is very different from the theory which encourages revolutions. It is not easy or right to say which one is better, the conservatism or the liberalism. This article focuses on the main ideas of conservatism and its impact on the course of policy-making in American history. A macroscopic investigation on American history by conservatism is recognized in the long river of history are helpful to be understood each other.

Several solution strategies for a class of large, sparse linear systems with a block 2 × 2 structure arising from the finite element discretization of an optimal control problem in wind simulation are introduced and analyzed. Block preconditioners and a sparse direct solver on the original coupled system are compared with a preconditioned GMRES iteration applied to a reduced system (Schur complement). Theoretical and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the reduced system approach. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“1960s and “conservatism” are two topics that the academia concerns. According to the traditional opinions, activism serves the 1960s as the main logo, and has no relation with conservatism. However, this article shows the important role that conservatism played in American social movement in 1960s. Furthermore, this article argues that conservatism in this period had been deeply influenced and coined by the time, and the activism and extremeness aspects of conservatism seem quite contradictory to its logic. This article tries to reveal this paradox. As a conclusion, the author argues that it is important to combine “1960s” with “conservatism”to make a more comprehensive and deeper understanding toward the two topics.

Conservatism is often assumed to imply a continuity of values and positions between past and present. Previous research has demonstrated, however, that there are discontinuities between historical and contemporary political conservatism and that modern political conservatives endorse programs and legislation once regarded as liberal. Testing whether the same pattern may hold for religious conservatism was the purpose of this research. Perceptions of conservative positions in Christian history were assessed among young adults (N = 221). Results showed that individuals who identified themselves as conservatives were less likely to recognize past conservative positions on religious issues than individuals who identified themselves as liberals. These findings were not accounted for by lack of knowledge about religious history on the part of conservatives. Furthermore, women were more likely than men to accurately identify conservative and liberal positions of the past. The findings suggest that religious conservatism, like political conservatism, does not necessarily involve a continuity of positions between past and present.

This paper focuses on the chaos control problem of the unified chaotic systems with structured uncertainties. Applying Schur‐complement and some matrix manipulation techniques, the controlled uncertain unified chaotic system is then transformed into the linear matrix inequality (LMI) form. Based on Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) formulation, a simple linear feedback control law is obtained to enforce the prespecified exponential decay dynamics of the uncertain unified chaotic system. Numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed robust control scheme.
