    Abstract:
    Aiming at campus network congestion problems, proposes a method that balances network traffic of the open computer lab and improves the campus network performance by the network accounting. Designs a network accounting management system based on data acquisition modes with a network traffic monitor, introduces the realization of network accounting software and its key technology-DLPI network programming interface.

    The rapid development of Internet technology and the expansion of application fields about network are making the network traffic monitoring as an important part of network management. In this paper, a network traffic monitoring system is studied and designed, which can monitor network traffic of multiple computers in the network. In this paper, the socket technology and network traffic monitoring technology is introduced, the principle and structure of the system is researched and designed, data communications and network traffic monitoring are implemented in the end. Data displaying terminal and traffic monitoring terminal communicate by socket technology, access to traffic data on the computer is accessed by the application interface of the operating system. In this paper, traffic data collection and analysis method are as little as possible to take up system resources and cyber source, as accurately as possible to participate in the collection and analysis of flow data.

    Network traffic monitoring is an important part study of network management.The data of network traffic provides significant information for running and maintaining network.This paper discusses the basic principle for realization of network flow monitor by Solarwinds tools.The system can timely monitor traffic of a real campus network environment using sloarwinds tools,and can analyze result.

    Network data collection is a vital part in the process of network monitoring, traffic billing, network management and intrusion detection. As a new kind of network architecture, Software Defined Network (SDN) provides a possibility of intelligent and adaptive network data collection with centralized control and programming. However, existing literatures lack a concrete solution to economically collect network data, while satisfying the quality of data processing and analytics. Current data collection methods are not sufficiently adaptive and intelligent in terms of network context awareness. In this paper, we propose an adaptive network data collection system in SDN by automatically selecting proper data collection nodes based on network status in a dynamic way. During data collection, network traffic is sampled by considering flow characteristics in order to effectively reduce the amount of collected data while ensuring the accuracy of later data analysis, e.g., malicious traffic detection. A series of experiments are conducted to test and verify the data collection system and show its advantages through comparison with existing works in terms of CPU/memory consumption, storage usage, flow size recovery, and threat perception.

    IP network operators collect aggregate traffic statistics on network interfaces via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This is part of routine network operations for most ISPs; it involves a large infrastructure with multiple network management stations polling information from all the network elements and collating a real time data feed. This demo will present a tool that manages the live SNMP data feed on a fully operational large ISP at industry scale. The tool primarily serves to study correlations in the network traffic, by providing a rich mix of ad-hoc querying based on a user-friendly correlation interface and as well as canned queries, based on the expertise of the network operators with field experience. The tool is called IPSOFACTO for IP Stream-Oriented FAst Correlation TOol.

    Traffic measurement and analysis, as one of the important methods of understanding and characterizing network, can provide significant support for network management. After a brief introduction of a novel NP (network processor)-based architecture of traffic measurement, the paper presents the detailed analysis results of the traffic collected from the gigabit link connecting Tsinghua University campus network (in short, TUNET) to its upstream ISP, China Education and Research NETwork (in short, CERNET). Then, the paper comprehensively analyzes the traffic from multi-dimension viewpoints, including temporal distribution, packet length distribution, port-based distribution, protocol-based distribution, and TopN statistics. Such analysis not only provides support for the study of user behavior, but also enriches traffic measurement technology

    This paper analyses the current application statuses and characteristics of network traffic analysis and accounting in native campus network firstly. And based on the analysis, it provides a practical solution for middle_scale campus networks, in which the server is based on Linux OS and uses data link access, pipe and shared memory technology of Linux to collect and deal with network packet data.

    Network Traffic Monitoring System (NTMs) is a standalone system that use to monitoring network traffic of computers in a LAN environment. It is capable of filtering out a certain port. IP address and protocol and generates a network traffic graph. IT behaves as a useful tool for network administrator and network engineer. This system is target to be implementing in a small organization that own LAN such as Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology in University Malaya. It got the mission of monitoring a network, trace and identifies misuse of computer, improve network manageability and over come some network problem. Waterfall model is chosen as the methodology to develop this system. Its is hope that this technique can help and direct the development of this system in a efficient and cost effective approach. To achieve the target of monitor the network traffic the system apply combination technology of Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, WinPeap, MRTG and some relevant tools.

    In order to the effective implementation of practice teaching,analysis of network monitoring work,and proposes an experimental environment for network monitoring and packet capture using examples to analyze the network data packets.The experiments help students to understand network architecture,learning and mastering network packet capture and analysis technology to improve student network analysis and troubleshooting capabilities,and promote student interest in learning network knowledge.

    With the scaling and complicating of the campus network,bottleneck problem when interact-access campus network and public network accesses each other has been getting worse and worse.How to improve the service quality and find shortcomings of the campus network becomes a serious problem to network manager.Network measurement is a basic method to discover、analyze and solve the problems mentioned above.This paper designes and implementes a network measurement system for campus network based on analysis of existing methods and tools for network measurement.The system proposed in this paper gives an effective reference for network manager to optimize and implement network.

    The compatibility of general commercial software of network traffic monitoring is poor,hard to meet a specific local area network monitoring requirements.Network managers are very difficult to monitor effectively the network data flow direction,the state of data flow among every network node and other network abnormal.In addition,the software is expensive.In this paper,according to the actual requirement of the measurement and analysis of the local area network data traffic,design a universal program of network traffic monitoring system which is based on SNMP.The paper also detailed describes the development process of the network traffic monitoring system by using SNMP++ technology and Management Object Library MIB in the VC++6.0 platform.It solves well the technical problems in data sampling.By simulation testing,the traffic chart generated by this system is essentially same with the traffic chart generated by MRTG,the implementing process of this system is simple.Furthermore,system run is reliable and stable.This system can be used as an example of the software development of the local area network monitoring system.
