    Abstract:
BACKGROUND/INTRODUCTION: Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years, potentially leading to dangerous problems in heart health in later years. Project Healthy Schools (PHS) aims to improve the wellness of students during adolescence by promoting healthy lifestyle changes. PHS incorporates 10 educational lessons into 6th grade students’ curricula. Each of these lessons emphasizes the PHS goals of healthy eating, regular exercise, and less sedentary behavior and are designed to be interactive, hands on, and fun. This report describes the students’ assessment of the educational model used in PHS. METHODS: Upon completion of the education module, participating students received a process survey. The purpose of this survey was to gather feedback from the students on the educational component of PHS. Results from the process survey were compiled from 4 separate school districts over the years 2008-2013. Five questions regarding the educational activities and resultant behavior changes are reported. RESULTS: 1793 students completed the survey. After completing the 10 lessons, 71% of students reported learning that was consistent with the PHS goals and25% reported liking all 10 PHS activities. Students enjoyed the activities for the following reasons: 45% because they were fun; 16% enjoyed moving around and/or playing games; and 36% enjoyed learning about being healthy. Furthermore, students reported the following lifestyle changes after the program was completed: 43% eating more fruits/vegetables, 38% increasing minutes of physical activity, 27% decreasing screen time, 30% choosing healthier drinks, 38% eating less fast food, with 29% making no changes. Lastly, when being tested on specific material from the course, 46% of students selected the correct answer. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSIONS/FUTURE DIRECTIONS: The majority of students successfully learned the content of the lessons and made at least one positive healthy lifestyle change. The process survey has allowed PHS leaders to assess real-time feedback from participating students, make content changes accordingly and will continue to guide future revisions of the program.

For the last two decades, both policymakers and academicians agreed that obesity is a global public health problem that will penetrate to next generations. To overcome this problem, authorities recommend increasing childhood physical activity. This study focused on the relation between children's physical activity (PA), social encouragement for physical activity and perceived physical environmental characteristics. PA was measured via accelerometer and survey questions. Social encouragement for physical activity and perceived physical environmental characteristics were collected via survey. Results showed that accelerometer data was not correlated to survey data.
Under the background of current curriculum reform,it is necessary for schools to synthe- size the country curriculum, local curriculum and school-based curriculum into an orderly and highly effective school curriculum system. One of the important tasks is the design of school curriculum structure, which needs to follow the basic idea:to bring the school curriculum system into the development prospect of the school;to actually and successfully handle the relation among the country curriculum, local curriculum and school-based curriculum;fully consider the limitation of curriculum; attach importance to the order of design. After synthesis, the structure of school curriculum as a con- sultative framework concludes four parts:basic curriculum, intensive curriculum,mini-courses and free learning.

To determine whether hypercholesterolemic adults followed healthy eating and appropriate physical activity.Using the 2007 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, we measured ≥5 servings of fruits and vegetables/day and Healthy People 2010 recommended physical activity.Of 363,667 adults ≥18 years, 37.3% had hypercholesterolemia. The percentages of healthy eating and physical activity were lower among those with hypercholesterolemia than among those without (23.8% vs 27.9% for healthy eating [P< 0.001], 43.1% vs 51.7% for physical activity [P<0.001]).Hypercholesterolemic adults are less likely to practice healthy eating and to engage in physical activity than are those without hypercholesterolemia.

In different studies and curriculum reform, teachers have been viewed such as the curriculum implementers, the practical curriculum developers, the curriculum researchers, the curriculum decision-makers,the curriculum meaning builders or the curriculum enactment, and so on.But these external roles may not be perceived by teachers, the teachers' curriculum identity is still need attention and study.
