Abstract:
In this paper, a digital micro-mirror device (DMD)-based detector is proposed for the detection of light intensity in particle-sizing instruments using Fraunhofer diffraction. The detector consists of only one photodiode, which eliminates the distortions caused by the nonuniformity of the detector arrays used in traditional instruments. The center of the diffraction pattern was accurately located to distribute the optimized arc-shaped mirror arrays for the intensity detection. Both simulated and experimental results showed that the proposed detector was superior to the classical one as it was less sensitive to noise than the detector arrays used in traditional systems.Keywords:

An attempt was made to convert the conventional sizing machine into a smaller-sized unit suitable mainly to yarn-dyed fabrics by simplifying the dryer and using a new type sizing liquor for warp sizing.Results: We have succeeded in making a model warp sizer. Sizing by this machine goes through three stages: (1) applying sizing liquor (which contains starch granules) to the yarn; (2) gelatinizating starch on the yarn by steaming; and (3) drying. We name this sizing method “semi-dry sizing”.We expect this method will come into wide use because it can be used not only for dyed yarns but also for yarns hitherto not sized by sheet-sizing, especially flutty yarns.

In order to achieve sizing high-polyester and cotton fabric without PVA,and concerning the difficult points in sizing and the principles of choosing sizing agent for this fabric,this paper improves the original sizing agent formula,and a new sizing agent formula is determined by using T-45 sizing agent and B-210 phosphorylated starch as main sizing agent.In addition,the paper also chooses the original sizing agent formula and the new sizing agent formula respectively for sizing 13tex T80/C20 warp yarn in the same sizing machine,and compares their sizing performance and weaving effect.The experiment result indicates that the sizing performance and weaving effect of the new sizing agent formula are better than that of the original sizing agent formula,and that sizing high-polyester and cotton fabric without PVA is workable.

A study on the preparation and application of a new integrated surface sizing modifier was carried out. The results show that, the surface sizing agent prepared by the synthetic sizing agent and modified sizing agent has a good sizing effect and the sizing effect can be equivalent with that of the imported sizing agent whereas the cost can be reduced by a half with a remarkable economic benefit.

Influences of self-developed additives WEC02/WEC03 on sizing of mechanical pulp are analyzed in this study. The results indicated that the optimal dosage for paper sizing were 0.2% (w/w) for WEC02, with sizing degree of 33 s, and 0.8% for WEC03, with sizing degree of 52 s. In addition, the combined usage of WEC02 (0.2%) and WEC03 (0.6%) at pH7.0 could get better sizing performance than single application of WEC02 or WEC03 with sizing value of 77 s. It is obvious that WEC02/WEC03 have great potential to improve sizing efficiency in neutral paperrmaking, leading to saving the sizes dosage and cutting down the production cost.

The sizing efficiency of pre-strained papers were measured by Stockigt and Cobb sizing test methods. It was found that the sizing efficiency of acidic-sized papers decreases with straining of sheet, while that of alkaline-sized papers exhibits a reverse tendency. Straining level also affects sizing efficiency. However, all these changes are within 10% of the sizing degree of the unstrained paper. Effect of the factors being affected by straining, such as paper thickness and porous structure, were studied on the basis of Lucas-Washburn equation. Analysis shows that the differences between alkaline- and acidic-sized papers could be interpreted in terms of the bonding forces between pulp fibers and sizing agents, and the uniformity of distribution of the sizing agents on the fiber surfaces.

Sizing effect of GA311 sizing machine was discussed.Processing and structure design characteristic of GA311 sizing machine were analyzed,the sizing effect were tested.Sizing processing was set rationally,practice of colored woven product and warp-varied product were sized successfully.The practice shows sizing yarn hairiness and strength can be improved obviously when adopting GA311 sizing machine than GA308 sizing machine.It is considered demands of high pressure sizing processing and pre-wet sizing processing can be satisfied by adopting GA311 sizing machine.

In this paper, we investigate the Fraunhofer diffraction of a class of partially coherent light diffracted by a circular aperture. It is shown that by the illumination of partially coherent light of the special spatial correlation function, the anomalous behaviors of the diffraction patterns are found. We find that the decrease of the spatial coherence of the light in the aperture leads to the drastic changes of the diffraction pattern. Specifically, when the light in the aperture is fully coherent, the diffraction pattern is just an Airy disc. However, as the coherence decreases, the diffraction pattern becomes an annulus, and the radius of the annulus increases with the decrease of the coherence. Flattened annuli can be achieved, when the parameters characterizing the correlation of the partially coherent light are chosen with suitable values. Potential applications of modulating the coherence to achieve desired diffraction patterns are discussed.
