    Abstract:
The article presents first results of evaluation of experimental short rotation coppice, which was established as row mixture of selected poplar and willow clones in locality Dalovice in 1999. The goal of evaluation is to assess yield and stability of mixed short rotation coppice. Therefore experimental harvests of above ground biomass and measurements of quantitative characteristics (height, stem diameter and number) of trees were performed between 2005 and 2009. Collected data were statistically evaluated using analysis of variance (aNOV

Data from four different stands were combined to establish a single generalized allometric equation to estimate above-ground biomass of individual Populus trees grown on short-rotation coppice. The generalized model was performed using diameter at breast height, the mean diameter and the mean height of each site as dependent variables and then compared with the stand-specific regressions using F-test. Results showed that this single regression estimates tree biomass well at each stand and does not introduce bias with increasing diameter.

The data for establishing stem volume table of poplar tree were collected from 329 wood samples of the poplar tree plantations in Anhui Province.Based on the information of 300 wood samples, the parameters, the remaining standard deviation, relevant indexes of one-variable volume model were calculated by nonlinear equations Mai Kuate computation.According to the relevant indexes and the residual standard deviation,one-variable volume model of the poplar tree was given. The best one-variable volume model is V=0.0001413d2.4463.The average relative error, the average Absolutely relative error and systematic error of the binary volume table were calculated based on the 29 wood samples, and the results are-0.75%,14.55% and 1.62% respectively. Each error of the volume table satisfies with the need of forestry.

FAJMAN, M., PALAT, M., SEDLAK, P.: Estimation of the yield of poplars in plantations of fast-growing species within current results. Acta univ. agric. et silvic. Mendel. Brun., 2009, LVII, No. 2, pp. 25–36 Current results are presented of allometric yield estimates of the poplar short rotation coppice. According to a literature review it is obvious that yield estimates, based on measurable quantities of a growing stand, depend not only on the selected tree specie or its clone, but also on the site location. The Jap-105 poplar clone (P. nigra x P. maximowiczii) allometric relations were analyzed by regression methods aimed at the creation of the yield estimation methodology at a testing site in Domaninek. Altogether, the twelve polynomial dependences of particular measured quantities approved the high empirical data conformity with the tested regression model (correlation index from 0.9033 to 0.9967). Within the forward stepwise regression, factors were selected, which explain best examined estimates of the total biomass DM; i.e. d.b.h. and stem height. Furthermore, the KESTEMONT’s (1971) mo del was verifi ed with a satisfying conformity as well. Approving presented yield estimation methods, the presented models will be checked in a large-scale fi eld trial.

Based on the analyses of original taper functions, the improved Sohumacher equation with four parameters has been established as the taper equation of poplar in Jiangsu. Then, the outturn table for poplar in Jiangsu has been constructed.By experiment on the poplar stand of different siteindex,it shows that the equation fits the growth of poplar merchantable volume well, which can be used to estimate the yield of poplar stand in Jiangsu. The theory and method introduced in this paper have higher efficiency and also offers the good basic to construct yield tables of poplar stand. It has an important sense to enhance scientific management level and ensure estimating precision of yield prediction in poplar planning.

A new stem taper function was established for individual trees of two poplar hybrid clones grown on a short-rotation coppice. The model could be easily fitted and required three parameters to be estimated. It can be used to estimate both diameter at a given height and height for a given top diameter. Two of the three parameters controlled the conical and the neiloid parts of the stem. Significant differences in these parameters were observed between the two clones even if no differences were observed for diameter at breast height or total height of the stem. The model could not be integrated to calculate volumes (total volume, merchantable volume), which were estimated by numerical integration. However, use of this new model allows the optimal length of billets to be determined and thus maximizes the merchantable biomass of poplar in short-rotation coppice by minimizing the biomass of residues.
