Using some recent Plasma drift data at Arecibo, we present evidences of Electric Field (E) changes induced by sunrise and sunset transitions at both local and conjugate regions. Field perpendicular plasma drifts in the F region are used as unambiguous diagnostic of the Electric Field. We present evidences of a downward velocity started around the conjugate sunrise and reaching minimum around the local sunrise, when it turns around and merges with normal daytime behavior, controlled by the dynamo region. During sunset, the upward drift increase at local sunset and shows a dip at the conjugate sunset, when it turns around. Afterwards, the F region is isolated and behaves in regular night time fashion. The entire behavior can be explained by coupled behavior of the E and F region, where the terminator line switches the coupling and affects charge separation at the boundaries.

Melancholy is a central expressive property of the Before films and key to understanding and appreciating the trilogy as a whole. Moments of melancholy can be quite brief and subtle when there's a quick shift of the negative to the positive. But the whole process can also be protracted and very intense, with thoughts that are continuously developing and overlapping, affecting and even looping back on each other, resulting in a prolonged alternation of the bitter and the sweet. Melancholy is manifestly present in the characters' dialogue and in their facial and bodily expressions. But 'film expression' is not exhausted by 'character expression'. Melancholy is expressed even more clearly and explicitly in the various songs that are used throughout the trilogy. Melancholy, furthermore, is effectively expressed in the trilogy through various cinematic means, such as the soundtrack, certain stylistic devices, notable motifs and a plethora of cinematic references.

The equatorial plasma bubble (EPB) is a common event that occurred at the F-layer of the ionosphere due to plasma irregularities. Its occurrence can be observed around sunset and midnight hours, depending on the season. In this study, ROTI plot measurement was utilized in EPB detection, where the data was obtained from the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM). The seasonal variation of EPB in Langkawi, Malaysia was investigated for both post-sunset and post-midnight occurrence within the period of moderate solar activity year (2011). The result showed that EPB was varied with season, where both post-sunset and post-midnight EPB were highly observed during the equinoctial month (March and April) compared to June solstice. However, the post-sunset EPBs were found dominant during equinox while post-midnight EPBs were during June solstice.

The ionospheric TEC and scintillation measurements were investigated at ARAU, Malaysia station based on GPS measurements during major storm on 15-16 May 2005. The major storm was observed for the period from 12 to 17 May 2005 and was accompanied by a moderate solar activity with F10.7 > 100 and SSN > 100. The maximum readings of geomagnetic indices Dst, Kp and Ap recorded by the World Data Centre (WDC) are -263 nT, 9 and 105 respectively. The solar wind index, Bz showed a sharp incursion to the south with a peak reaching -37 nT. The 15-16 May 2005 storm has only one SSC and is the most intense storm recorded during the solar minimum 2005. The results show pronounced phase and amplitude scintillations and sudden increase in TEC is clearly observed during the storm. The peak phase scintillation recorded during the storm is 0.19 m and the measured amplitude scintillation and S4 index on both L1 and L2 bands are > 13 dB-Hz and > 0.7 respectively.

Abstract Onset time and conditions of the postsunset equatorial plasma bubble (EPB) observed by the Gadanki Ionospheric Radar Interferometer are presented and discussed in the light of collocated digisonde observations of background ionosphere. Observations show two important findings: (a) onset time of EPB is linked with the sunset terminator and it varies between the low latitude E region sunset and apex F region sunset with a tendency of EPB onset to be close to low latitude E region sunset, and (b) higher height of the bottomside F layer (by 50–60 km) and vertical plasma drift (by 10–30 m s −1 ) observed over Gadanki are found to be associated with the EPBs growing in a narrow longitude zone of ±1° centered on Gadanki than those outside this zone. The early onset of EPB coinciding with the low latitude E region sunset is attributed to the early predominance of the F region dynamo leading to prereversal enhancement (PRE) of zonal electric field, consistent with theoretical expectation. Delay in the onset of EPB is attributed to the effect of flux tube integrated Pedersen conductivity owing to low latitude sporadic E activity and the F region meridional neutral wind that could change the F region plasma density along the flux tube through field‐aligned movement of plasma. Observations also show that ionosonde observations from a single location cannot be used to predict the growth of EPB at other location, including those close to the station but away from the station by about 120 km.
