Abstract Bei der Behandlung des Norbornens (I) oder der epimeren Norbornanole (II) bzw. (III) mit protischen Säuren (90%ige Ameisensäure bzw. Essigsäure‐ Schwefelsäure) oder aber unter aprotischen Bedingungen durch OH‐Abspaltung bei der Behandlung der Norbornanole (II) bzw. (III) mit Triphenylmethyltetrafluoroborat in Methylenchlorid entsteht das Kation (IV), das bevorzugt Protoneneliminierung gegenüber Additionsreaktionen unterliegt [durch Hydrolyse bildet sich bevorzugt (I) gegenüber (II) und (III)] und das keine Neigung zu Skelettumlagerung oder H‐Verschiebung zeigt.
