Prenatal ultrasound screening has allowed for the detection of in utero cardiac abnormalities. Specifically, distinction is possible between ventricular diverticula and aneurysms, which is important because each condition has a different clinical outcome. We report the case of a 35-year-old, gravida 1, para 1 woman, with no significant past medical history, who underwent routine prenatal ultrasound screening at 32 weeks' gestation. A four-chamber ultrasound of the fetal heart combined with M-mode echocardiography showed abnormal dilatation of the right ventricular chamber measuring 2.2 cm × 1.0 cm but with normal contractility. Delivery was performed at full term by cesarean section, and a right ventricular diverticulum was confirmed by postnatal cardiac computed tomography. The baby developed normally with no cardiac sequelae during followup. This case demonstrates the importance of making a correct diagnosis of ventricular diverticula by prenatal ultrasound when abnormal dilatation of the fetal ventricle is identified during routine screening. Because evaluating the wall contractility by M-mode ultrasound leads to evaluating whether it has the myocardium, we conclude that M-mode echocardiography is effective for the purpose of prenatal cardiac diagnosis and can distinguish between ventricular aneurysms and functioning ventricular diverticula.

Objective To investigate the possibility of common two-dimensional ultrasound to screen out prenatally fetal congenital heart diseases.Methods 2 180 fetuses of 20 - 42 weeks of gestational age were examined with two-dimensional ultrasound on four-chamber views and main artery short axis views. Siemens SI-400 ultrasound imaging system with 3.5 MHz frequency was used for examination. The fetuses suspected to have congenital heart disease were rechecked by color Dopple echocardiography and followed up. Results 24 fetuses suspected to have congenital heart disease were found by common two-dimensional ultrasound. Of them, 20 were confirmed by follow-up , 2 were with missed diagnosis of partial malformation, and 2 were false- positive. Besides, 3 false- negative fetuses were found after birth. Conclusions Common two-dimensional ultrasound can screen out prenatally fetal congenital heart diseases.

Abstract Objective Evaluate fetal echocardiography's ability to detect critical (lesions requiring immediate neonatal intensive care) congenital heart disease (CHD) after normal anatomic cardiac views on detailed ultrasound. Methods Singletons with both a detailed ultrasound at 18 + 0 to 22 + 6 weeks and echocardiogram performed at least 14 days later and at 20 + 0 to 24 + 6 weeks. Cases with cardiac pathology on detailed ultrasound were excluded. Different combinations of cardiac views were described: Basic (four‐chamber, outflow tracts), Expanded (plus three‐vessel view), and Complete (plus ductal/aortic arches). “Normal” was defined on either 2D gray scale or color Doppler. Primary outcome was rates of critical CHD missed on ultrasound but seen on fetal echocardiogram. Results One thousand two hundred twenty‐three women had normal Basic cardiac views. One thousand one hundred ninety (97.3%) were confirmed normal on echocardiogram. Twenty‐one (1.71%) total CHDs were missed, and three were critical (0.25%; 95% CI, 0.03%‐0.53%). Of the 1,223 women, 763 had Complete views. Ten (1.31%) total CHDs were missed and one (0.13%; 95% CI, 0.13%‐0.36%) was confirmed critical. Conclusion Fetal echocardiography can increase CHD detection despite normal cardiac anatomy on detailed ultrasound; however, CHDs missed are rarely critical. Approximately 750 fetal echocardiograms need to be performed to detect one critical CHD with Complete normal cardiac views on detailed ultrasound.

Objective To investigate the experiences and methods of interventional ultrasound treatment of ovarian cysts.Methods We retrospectively analyze the clinical data of 180 patients with ovarian cysts undergoing ultrasound-guided treatment.The clinical effect was observed after alcohol sclerosis therapy.Results A total of 179 patients(99.4%) were successfully treated by the ultrasound-guided aspiration without severe significant complications.Three patients(1.7%) recurred during the 24-month follow-up.Conclusion The clinical effect of ultrasound-guided aspiration and alcohol sclerosis was satisfactory.

Diagnostic value of echocardiography in fetal cardiac malformation and clinical classification was investigated. In total, 206 high-risk parturients, who received a screening of prenatal fetal cardiac malformation in Jinan Maternity and Child Care Hospital from January 2015 to June 2017, were retrospectively analyzed, among those parturients, the results of labor induction or newborns of 141 parturients were diagnosed as cardiac malformation, the fetuses of 65 parturients were diagnosed as non-cardiac malformation, the detection of fetal cardiac malformation of all the parturients was carried out by two-dimensional ultrasound and four-dimensional ultrasound during gestation period, presence or absence of congenital cardiac malformation of the fetuses and clinical classification were estimated. The sensitivity of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis combined with four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis was significantly higher than that of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis and four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis (P<0.05). In addition, the sensitivity of four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis was significantly higher than that of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis (P<0.05). The specificity and positive predictive value of four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis were significantly higher than those of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis and two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis combined with four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis (P<0.05). The diagnostic coincidence rates of four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis and two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis combined with four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis were significantly higher than that of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis (P<0.05). The negative predictive values of the combined ultrasound diagnosis and four-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis were significantly higher than that of two-dimensional ultrasound diagnosis (P<0.05). The diagnostic efficiency of two-dimensional ultrasound combined with four-dimensional ultrasound was good in the diagnosis of fetal cardiac malformation in prenatal period of pregnant women, it could improve detection rate of fetal cardiac malformation and is worthy of being generalized in clinic.
