A new approach to the one-step synthesis of cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dots is reported using the air stable complex cadmium imino-bis(diisopropylphosphine selenide); the ligand is readily prepared from elemental selenium and the precursor, quantum dots of comparable quality to those prepared by conventional methods are obtained.Keywords:

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are applied as an inexpensive and efficient hole transporter/extractor to improve the stability in cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dot-based photoelectrochemical systems. By depositing GQDs on CdSe QD-based electrodes, photochemical stability and photocurrent density are greatly enhanced, showing the visible working capability.

Abstract In our previous communications, we have reported that selenium heterocycles could be easily obtained either by using selenium dioxide (3) or by selenium (4). In continuation of our studies on the synthesis and chemistry of selenium heterocycles, it was of interest to use aluminum selenide as the precursor of selenium in the preparation of selenium heterocycles.

The growth of ternary semiconductor thin films of cadmium indium selenide nanofibers has been carried out from aqueous solution of cadmium sulphate, indium trichloride, and selenium dioxide by electrochemical route. These thin films have been further optimized using photoelectrochemical cell (PEC). Optimized thin film has been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
