    Abstract:
Visions involving technology has become common at all levels in society, from governmental plans to individual dreams of self-realisation. The visions especially flourish around new technology like information technology, and the technology is seen as a solution to various sorts of non-technical problems. The paper studies the role technology plays in social visions. It focuses on visions around integration of disabled persons where information technology plays a part. It shows that the technological element in the vision may be an important force in order to realise visions and to bring about change. But the technological element may become too dominant, thereby preventing the necessary steps of a non-technical kind to be taken.

There are many visions that touch on the future of human computer interaction from a trans-human future to a post-technological UI. However visions related to the progress of technology are not new. Creative and insightful visionaries from Denis Diderot to Vannevar Bush have been postulating visions of possible futures or technology for centuries. Some idealised views end up discredited with advances in knowledge, while others now appear remarkably prescient. The question is, do visions and the process of creating them have a place in CHI, or are they simply flights of fancy?

The theme of this paper is the current practice of vision and visioning in land use planning in Scotland. The recent allocation of £90 million as part of the Building Better Cities Growth Fund required Scotland's six principal cities to prepare a city-vision. This was based on the perceived necessity of shared visions in providing a clear framework to guide development. The paper examines the contested concepts of visions and visioning and asks whether the prescriptive approach to the city-visions provides for inspirational or aspirational visions.

I offer this article to begin and encourage dialogue on an Adventist theology of dreams and visions. The paper will have five sections: Dreams and Visions in the OT, NT, and writing of Ellen White; the Purpose of God-Given Dreams and Visions; Warnings about Dreams and Visions Not Inspired by God; Missiological Implications of Dreams and Visions among Muslims; and Practical Suggestions.

Abstract Multiple realisation prompts the question: how is it that multiple systems all exhibit the same phenomena despite their different underlying properties? In this paper I develop a framework for addressing that question and argue that multiple realisation can be reductively explained. I illustrate this position by applying the framework to a simple example – the multiple realisation of electrical conductivity. I defend my account by addressing potential objections: contra (e.g.) Polger and Shapiro (2016), Batterman (2018), and Sober (1999), I claim that multiple realisation is commonplace, that it can be reductively explained, but that it requires a sui generis reductive explanatory strategy.

This paper addresses a proposed discrepancy between descriptions of benefits from information systems (IS) and actions of IS benefits realisation. It suggests that descriptions often are made from an evaluation focus perspective that does not support realisation activities. Using a qualitative single case-study the IS benefits realisation efforts of a Swedish hospital is studied. From the findings, the notion of valuescape as a value configuration is suggested to capture the proposed realisation focus, and thus support realisation activities.
