Objective:To determine the contents of salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Compound Redbud Bark and Salicylic Acid Solution by HPLC.Methods:Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18 column(4.6mm×250mm,5?m)was used with the mobile phase of a mixture of Methanol and 0.05mol.L-1 KH2PO4(50:50,adjusted the pH to 4.0 with phosphoric acid);the flow rate was 1.0mL/min-1;the column temperature was 30℃;the detection wavelength:240nm.Results:The sample and host were separated well by HPLC.The linear response range was 1.0~96.6μg·mL﹣1(r=0.9999)of salicylic acid and 2.0~160.3μg·mL﹣1(r=0.9998)of benzoic acid.The sample solution was steady within 10h.The average recoveries of salicylic acid and benzoic acid were 100.6%(n=6)and 99.6%(n=6),respectively.Conclusions:This method is simple,rapid,accurate and reliable and can used for the quality control of Compound Redbud Bark and Salicylic Acid Solution.

Abstract Methods of extraction from pharmaceutical formulations and subsequent determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid by spectrofluorimetry are described. The recovery of benzoic acid, in the presence of salicylic acid, was 99·3%, with a coefficient of variation of 1·04%, while the recovery of salicylic acid, in the presence of benzoic acid, was 97·7%, with a coefficient of variation of 0·68%.

Salicylic acid is an important endogenous signal molecule in the activation of plant defense responses. The basic properties and the function of salicylic acid involved in plant disease resistance are introduced. The operation mechanisms of salicylic acid inducing plant disease resistance have been discussed in the interaction of salicylic acid with salicylic acid_binding protein and salicylic acid_dependent signalling pathway with salicylic acid_independent signalling pathway. Finally, significance of the study on mechanisms of salicylic acid action are summarized.

The salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Zuguangfen powder were detected by RP-HPLC.The result is that the average recycling of salicylic acid was 98.94%,the benzoic acid was 98.00%;the linear range of salicylic acid and benzoic acid was 8~40 μg,the r was 0.999 4 and 0.999 2 respectively.This method is accurate in measuring the content of salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Zuguangfen powder.

Commercial benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointments have been analyzed for benzoic acid and salicylic acid content by using a spectrophotometric method. Since benzoic acid and salicylic acid exhibit overlapping spectra, absorbance measurements are made at two wavelengths, i.e. 271 nm and 303 nm in ethanol (96%v/v) for simultaneous determination of the two compounds. The method is direct and involves only one step of absorbance measurement in the assay. The precision of the method, based on the analysis of synthetic mixtures of the two compounds, is within 2%. The recoveries of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in the ointments range from 99.9 to 100.6% and 99.5 to 101.3%, respectively and are comparable with those of the USP method (99.8 to 100.5% and 100.2 to 101.7%, respectively). The proposed method is simple, rapid, precise and convenient for the assay of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in commercial preparations.

With 25 10-basic primers, the genomes DNA of three groupes of diploid and tetraploid Antirrhinum majus were randomly amplified. The results showed the fingerprinting of diploid Antirrhinum majus and that of its autotatraploid were different with cultivars and primers; The DNA sequences were changed besides polyploided during polyploided inducement on Antirrhinum majus. So the abundant germresource was offered for breeding new cultivars. The fingerprinting can offer molecular evidence for identifying new cultivars of Antirrhinum majus and establish the basis for protecting new cultivars.

AIM To establish a method for the simultaneous content determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in a new concentrated benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointment by RP-HPLC.METHODS A Kromasil-C_(18)chromatographic column(150 mm×4.6 mm,5μm)was used;the mobile phase was V(methanol):V(0.02 mol·L~(-1) KH_2PO_4,the pH value was adjusted to 3.1 with H_3PO_4 solution)=50:50;the determination wave length was 280 nm;the flow rate was 1.0 mL'min1 and the column temperature was 20℃.RESULTS The linear ranges of benzoic acid and salicylic acid were 96-144 mg·L~(_1)(r=0.9995)and 48-72 mg·L~(-1)(r=0.999 7),respectively.Their average recoveries were within 99.6%-100.6%and 99.4%-100.2%.respectively.CONCLUSION The method is simple, accurate,reproducible and suitable for the determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid levels in a new concentrated benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointment.
