The relationship of psychological types of agreeableness and conscientiousness and their interactive effects among students with their academic performance in the course were investigated. On the basis of data from 105 students in an introductory economics course, results indicated that conscientiousness ( r = .413), agreeableness ( r = .335), and interaction of agreeableness and conscientiousness ( r =. 364) were all significantly related to students' performance in the course. Consistently with our expectations, students high in conscientiousness and agreeableness performed better than did those low in conscientiousness and agreeableness. Implications and directions for future research are noted.

Despite the growing evidence of role personality plays on sport and exercise related behavior, little is known about the influence of personality traits on football players in the U.S. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of the big five personality traits on football achievements. Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), Conscientiousness (C), Neuroticism (N), and Openness (O) traits obtained from 619,397 U.S. respondents in a previous study were used as predictors to state-level football scores in this study. Across 50 states in the U.S., football ranks were positively correlated with state scores on the Big Five personality factors of conscientiousness and agreeableness. However, when applying multiple regression analyses to the prediction model for football ranks based on five independent variables of the Big Five personality factors, only conscientiousness and neuroticism would significantly predict football ranks. Agreeableness correlates with football ranks but does not contribute to the prediction model since agreeableness is collinear with conscientiousness, extraversion, and openness. Neuroticism insignificantly correlates with football ranks but contributes to the prediction because the suppressor effect of conscientiousness by neuroticism has improved its predictor of football ranks. The findings implied that in order to increase high ranks in football practice, selection for athletics would focus on persons with high conscientiousness and neuroticism.

This paper presents the results of an investigation into the role of two personality traits (i.e. Agreeableness and Conscientiousness from the Big Five personality traits) in predicting rating error in the self-assessment and peer-assessment of composition writing. The average self/peer-rating errors of 136 Iranian English major undergraduates assigned to two equal-sized groups, one doing self-assessment and the other peer-assessment over nine sessions, were correlated with and regressed against their measures of Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. The results indicated that Agreeableness and Conscientiousness only explained 7% of the variation in self-rating error. Including both Agreeableness and Conscientiousness in a model to predict peer-rating error explained 16% of the variation. When Agreeableness and Conscientiousness were both included in a multiple regression analysis, only Agreeableness was found to significantly predict peer-rating error. Based on these findings, some conclusions are drawn, and pedagogical implications are discussed.

The purpose of this study was comparison of big five personality traits including Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to experiences, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness between athlete (n=263) and non-athlete (n=263) students. To evaluation of variables, NEO-FFI (revised short form) personality questionnaire used that designed by Costa & McCrea (1992). Independent T-test was used to comparison of athlete and non-athlete students in five personality traits. The research results showed that there were significant differences between groups in neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness, but, no any differences observed between groups in openness to experiences. Athletes’ group gained higher score at Extraversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness and lower score at Neuroticism.

The present study aimed to investigate relationships of big five personality traits (openness to experiences, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) with the hedonistic lifestyle as well as gender differences in two variables. Participants were students of the Psychology Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Indonesia. A total of 256 students (165 women and 91 men) were selected based on the simple random sampling. The Indonesian version of the Big Five Personality Inventory Scale and the Hedonistic lifestyle Scale were used in the research. The results indicated that three dimensions of the big five, namely conscientiousness, extraversion, and neuroticism, were significantly correlated with the hedonistic lifestyle. conscientiousness had a greater correlation with the hedonistic lifestyle compared to the extraversion and neuroticism. However, the other two dimensions, namely the openness to experience and agreeableness were not correlated with the hedonistic lifestyle. Meanwhile, female participants showed significantly higher levels of hedonistic lifestyle, neuroticism, and agreeableness than men; however, the conscientiousness was significantly higher in men than women. © NAJP.

Several previous studies examining the predictors of counterproductive work behaviors (CWBs) have found positive relationships for neuroticism and negative relationships for conscientiousness and agreeableness. We extend this research by examining whether employee personality traits interact with each other to influence CWBs. Because conscientiousness and agreeableness may suppress one's tendency to engage in CWBs, we hypothesized that the neuroticism–CWB relationship will be weaker among workers who are high in either conscientiousness or agreeableness than among workers who are low in these traits. Data from three independent samples provide support for these hypothesized moderator effects.

Within the Big Five personality framework, past research has found that neuroticism, agreeableness, and conscientiousness tend to display a relationship with ethical behavior (Sacket & Wanek, 1996; Kolz, 1999; Kalshoven, Den Hartog, & DeHoogh, 2011). Although past research has explored the relationship between white-collar crime and personality (Blickle, Schlegel, Fassbender, & Klein, 2006; Turner, 2014), this study seeks to more narrowly look at the influence that personality (specifically, neuroticism, agreeableness, and conscitiousness) has on taxpayer compliance. As hypothesized, results provide support that taxpayer compliance behavior decreases when higher level of neuroticism and conscientiousness are present.

The study was under taken to fi nd the adolescents personality factors based on gender exploratory research design was adopted participants were 90 adolescents aged 12-21 years both boys and girls. Adolescents were selected randomly from schools and colleges located at Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Procedures include adolescents were selected from diff erent schools and colleges. Firstly, students are instructed to fi ll the general information form and to assess the personality factors Big fi ve personality test by Goldberg (1992) was used. To analyze the personality factors frequency, percentage, correlation and t-test were used. The results from the study revealed that Girls had high level of openness to experience, conscientiousness and neuroticism whereas boys scored high in agreeableness and low in extraversion. Adolescent’s age was positively related with openness to experience, conscientiousness and agreeableness. Negative signifi cant relation was observed with neuroticism personality trait and adolescent’s age. A positive correlation was observed between gender conscientiousness and a negative relation was found with openness to experience. Adolescent’s education has positive relation with openness to experience, conscientiousness and agreeableness. Neuroticism was negatively correlated with adolescent’s education.

The research study 'Effect of Personality Factor on Achievement Motivation' was conducted to analyze how personality factors like openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism effect achievement motivation across both the gender and among undergraduate and postgraduate students. Two standardized questionnaires Big Five Personality Inventory and Ray Lynn's Achievement Orientation were used. The stratified random sample comprising of 180 undergraduate and postgraduate students was used for the study. It was found that UG students are more achievement oriented than the PG students. Among the personality factors, PG students seem to have more agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness and they also show lesser neuroticism. Among the UG students, openness and neuroticism were found to be positively correlated with achievement motivation. Across gender, unlike popular belief, women were found to be more achievement oriented than men. And they are more extraverted and also score higher on neuroticism. Conscientiousness and openness were observed to be higher among men. However, on agreeableness both men and women scored the same. For women; extraversion, conscientiousness and opennessand for men, agreeableness and conscientiousness correlated with achievement motivation. These findings show a relationship between personality factors on achievement motivation as was hypothesized and contrary to the other hypothesis, neuroticism seemed to be positively correlated with achievement motivation.
