Abstract:
The effects of salicylic acid (SA) and other phenolic compounds, acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), benzoic add (BA) and sulfosalicylic acid (SSA), on ethylene production and somatic embryogenesis by carrot (Daucus carota L.) cell cultures were studied. SA and ASA, at concentrations of 10 μM and 100 μM, significantly stimulated somatic embryogenesis and effectively inhibited ethylene production by carrot cell suspension cultures. The observed increase of embryo number was proportional to the inhibition rate of ethylene production. However, BA and SSA affected neither ethylene production nor somatic embryogenesis. The role of SA in somatic embryogenesis is discussed.Keywords:

Objective:To determine the contents of salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Compound Redbud Bark and Salicylic Acid Solution by HPLC.Methods:Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18 column(4.6mm×250mm,5?m)was used with the mobile phase of a mixture of Methanol and 0.05mol.L-1 KH2PO4(50:50,adjusted the pH to 4.0 with phosphoric acid);the flow rate was 1.0mL/min-1;the column temperature was 30℃;the detection wavelength:240nm.Results:The sample and host were separated well by HPLC.The linear response range was 1.0~96.6μg·mL﹣1(r=0.9999)of salicylic acid and 2.0~160.3μg·mL﹣1(r=0.9998)of benzoic acid.The sample solution was steady within 10h.The average recoveries of salicylic acid and benzoic acid were 100.6%(n=6)and 99.6%(n=6),respectively.Conclusions:This method is simple,rapid,accurate and reliable and can used for the quality control of Compound Redbud Bark and Salicylic Acid Solution.

Abstract Methods of extraction from pharmaceutical formulations and subsequent determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid by spectrofluorimetry are described. The recovery of benzoic acid, in the presence of salicylic acid, was 99·3%, with a coefficient of variation of 1·04%, while the recovery of salicylic acid, in the presence of benzoic acid, was 97·7%, with a coefficient of variation of 0·68%.

The accumulation and localization of ECP31, an embryogenic cell protein with a molecular weight of 31 000, was examined with immunoblotting and immunohistochemical analysis during stress-induced somatic embryogenesis in carrot (Daucus carota). ECP31 was not detected in apical tip segments of 7-day-old carrot seedlings. However, it accumulated in the apical tip segments on which somatic embryos had formed after treatment with 0.5 mM NiCl 2 or CdCl 2 and successive culture on Murashige and Skoog's agar medium without the heavy metal chlorides. ECP31 was localized in proembryo-forming cells located in the periphery of the NiCl 2 treated carrot segments but not in developing somatic embryos on these segments. Several genes that may be involved in embryogenesis have been isolated from somatic embryos of carrot by many workers. However, the function of these genes has not been discovered yet. As the first step toward finding the function of these genes, we established a rapid and efficient method for transformation of carrot by using direct embryogenesis from hypocotyl segments treated with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) for a short period.

The salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Zuguangfen powder were detected by RP-HPLC.The result is that the average recycling of salicylic acid was 98.94%,the benzoic acid was 98.00%;the linear range of salicylic acid and benzoic acid was 8~40 μg,the r was 0.999 4 and 0.999 2 respectively.This method is accurate in measuring the content of salicylic acid and benzoic acid in Zuguangfen powder.

Commercial benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointments have been analyzed for benzoic acid and salicylic acid content by using a spectrophotometric method. Since benzoic acid and salicylic acid exhibit overlapping spectra, absorbance measurements are made at two wavelengths, i.e. 271 nm and 303 nm in ethanol (96%v/v) for simultaneous determination of the two compounds. The method is direct and involves only one step of absorbance measurement in the assay. The precision of the method, based on the analysis of synthetic mixtures of the two compounds, is within 2%. The recoveries of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in the ointments range from 99.9 to 100.6% and 99.5 to 101.3%, respectively and are comparable with those of the USP method (99.8 to 100.5% and 100.2 to 101.7%, respectively). The proposed method is simple, rapid, precise and convenient for the assay of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in commercial preparations.

AIM To establish a method for the simultaneous content determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in a new concentrated benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointment by RP-HPLC.METHODS A Kromasil-C_(18)chromatographic column(150 mm×4.6 mm,5μm)was used;the mobile phase was V(methanol):V(0.02 mol·L~(-1) KH_2PO_4,the pH value was adjusted to 3.1 with H_3PO_4 solution)=50:50;the determination wave length was 280 nm;the flow rate was 1.0 mL'min1 and the column temperature was 20℃.RESULTS The linear ranges of benzoic acid and salicylic acid were 96-144 mg·L~(_1)(r=0.9995)and 48-72 mg·L~(-1)(r=0.999 7),respectively.Their average recoveries were within 99.6%-100.6%and 99.4%-100.2%.respectively.CONCLUSION The method is simple, accurate,reproducible and suitable for the determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid levels in a new concentrated benzoic acid and salicylic acid ointment.

This paper aims to establish a method for the determination of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in compound benzoic acid tincture.The acid-base titrations was used to determine the benzoic acid content and salicylic acid content,UV was used to determine the salicylic acid content.The content of benzoic acid can be obtained by calculating.The method of acid-base titrations combined with UV is simple,suitable and accurate.
