Abstract:
Exergames do not have the capacity to detect whether the players are really enjoying the game-play. The games are not intelligent enough to detect significant emotional states and adapt accordingly in order to offer a better user experience for the players. We propose a set of body motion features, based on the Effort component of Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), that are used to provide sets of classifiers for emotion recognition in a game scenario for four emotional states:concentration, meditation, excitement and frustration. Experimental results show that, the system is capable of successfully recognizing the four different emotional states at a very high rate. Keywords:

This is a comparative study of the meditation techniques between Thai and Chinese Buddhist traditions. On the ground of the knowledge of meditation practices in Pali and Chinese Buddhist canon and meditation techniques prevalent in Thailand and China, this research is to find the similarities and differences between them in way to organize meditation practice, the theoretical basis for meditation techniques, and similar meditation techniques in these two Buddhist traditions. This research finds that both Thai and Chinese meditation masters try to bring meditation into normal people’s daily life, by making meditation centers easily to reach, reducing the importance of studying scriptures, and leading meditators’ being confidence in Nibbana. However, there are also some differences between the meditation techniques in Thai and Chinese Buddhist Traditions. In Thailand, meditation courses are normally organized by meditation centers, while in China, temples are organizing meditation practices. What is more, though there are some similar meditation techniques in these two Buddhist traditions, such as contemplation on breathing, as well as recitation of “Boddho” and Nian-fo, they are from different Buddhist texts and belonging to different meditation subjects.

Myanmar is one of the Theravāda Buddhist countries and the meditation practice also is very influence among Buddhist people. Therefore, there have been a lot of meditation centers, many scholars of meditation techniques. All meditation centers are followed the methods of Buddha by Theravāda view. The main aim and objective of this study are to criticize and analyze the meditation, such as Samatha meditation and vipassanā meditation by the focusing of the traditional ways to practice the meditation in Myanmar. The practice of meditation is to eliminate the defilements (kilesas) and to attain nibbāna (liberation). The research problem is to point out the situation of traditional meditation and how the practice was developed and how to reduce the stress of the people in Myanmar. According to the historical Canonicals, meditation practice started on the Buddha’s time. In Myanmar, Ledi Sayadaw who wrote a lot of books (Dīpanī) started to practice meditation in the Centre. Then, Mahasi Sayadaw established the Meditation Centre in Yangon. The technique is the intensive of vipassanā practice. Another one is Pa- Auk Taw Ya Meditation Centre and the founder is Sayadaw U Āciṇṇa. The practical method is based on the concentration meditation (Samatha bhāvana). Here, many Meditation Centers are left in this study because of time situation. So, I will explain these three meditation teachers as much as I can. Therefore, to reduce all the stress, meditation practice is very famous for Myanmar Buddhism who follows the traditional ways. If someone has used to practice the meditation, the environment was very peace and the people were unity.

Many Burmese Buddhists consider meditation the most praiseworthy activity one can undertake as a pious Buddhist, whether religious or lay. This chapter suggests that meditation’s prestige stems from its model of overcoming vulnerability in interaction by withdrawing from it. The chapter relates the course of a ten-day meditation retreat based on the currently more prestigious “insight” rather than “concentration” meditation tradition. It analyzes the prominence of meditation in contemporary Burmese discourse as reflecting the great value placed on autonomy, particularly for males. By instantiating the cessation of interaction, meditation models a condition of invulnerability and serenity that achieving detachment proffers.

Meditation has long been suggested as a means for improving mental health. This study examines whether meditation may be helpful to persons with intrusive thoughts. Fifty-three meditators from five sites of meditation reported their experience with meditation (how long they had been meditating and how much meditation they were currently doing per week), as well as their current experience of cognitive intrusions and related distress. Number of weeks experience with meditation was found to be negatively correlated with both severity of intrusive thoughts and negative evaluation of intrusive thoughts. Intensity of current meditation practice (minutes per week) was not found to be correlated with severity or evaluation of intrusive thoughts. It is concluded that experience with meditation provides psychological benefits consistent with the aims of both meditation traditions and many contemporary cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches. Meditation is theoretically and pragmatically compatible with contemporary cognitive-behavioral approaches and may be a useful supplement for treating clinical and nonclinical intrusive thoughts.

Yoga techniques include the practice of physical postures, regulation of respiration with a number of breathing techniques, meditation techniques and relaxation techniques. Meditation is a specific state of consciousness featured by deep relaxation and internalized attention. Meditation forms the sixth and seventh stages of the eight limbs of yoga described by the sage Patanjali. While meditation is relaxing, in yoga therapy it has a deeper significance. It silences the surface activity of the mind, there by allowing the person to look deeper within which illuminates the deeper and higher realities of existence.
