    Abstract:
Labels in dictionaries provide information about restrictions and constraints on the use of certain words or senses in the contexts in which they occur or in relation to other words described in a dictionary. These restrictions are referred to as diasystematic information. This contribution deals with diasystematic information in four British monolingual learner’s dictionaries (OALD8, LDOCE5, CALD3, and MED2) with the emphasis on multiple labels. A detailed classification of labels is presented and an in-depth overview of labels used in combination with one another in the dictionaries under investigation is given. Then follows a discussion of labels which are often used in combination, the aim being to establish whether labels belonging to one and the same category combine with one another or whether multiple labelling consists of labels from different categories of labels. The findings of this study show that labels belonging to different groups are mostly combined, and apart from that, labels expressing diaevaluative information and those expressing diastratic information can be combined within the group. Possible reasons for this are discussed in the contribution. The inclusion of diasystematic information largely depends on the type of dictionary and especially on its intended users. Therefore, lexicographers’ decisions about whether to use a label and how to use it appropriately should be based on the user profile. This is especially true of monolingual learner’s dictionaries, where one of the main functions is to promote the active use of a foreign language where every single piece of information included in the dictionary counts. The elderly population is increasing in many countries, often with health and incapacity challenges, largely disengaged them from the world of digital tools like Internet usage. They browse the Internet daily for obtaining needed information through various search engines through the search UI. Earlier technologies were fabricated for improving daily life, but the specific needs of the elderly are neglected often. Currently, available online search UIs are well-developed, but they did not consider usability in their design specifically for the elderly. This research aims to evaluate web search UIs based on the elderly perspectives to identify existing search UIs usability issues and recommend improvements to web search UI designs. The observation technique evaluated two web search UIs (Google interface and Bing interface) with fifteen participants aged 60 years and above. System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire was applied to measure the user satisfaction of the current two interfaces. The data collected from the observations were analyzed using content analysis, while the data acquired from the questionnaires were analyzed using the t-test. The results revealed a statistically significant difference in SUS ratings, with Google scoring 73.5 and Bing scoring 66.5, indicating that users prefer the Google interface over the Bing interface. Besides that, the usability issues were identified, and recommendations to improve the design of the search UI were suggested. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the issues that prevent elderly users from using web search UI and valuable feedback to designers on improving the UI to suit the elderly better.

Successful usability evaluation of interactive adaptive systems requires the use of appropriate methods. Different usability evaluation methods exist in the literature. These methods can be applied in association with the individual layers and with the whole adaptive system. In each situation, it is essential to apply the appropriate evaluation methods. In this paper, we propose a novel decision support approach called EvalCHOICE. It guides evaluators in the choice of appropriate usability evaluation methods for individual layers and the adaptive system as a whole. Our proposal is applied to determine the suitable evaluation methods for a given Web-based adaptive system in the field of transport.

Usability is the methodology used to determine the software performance.Usability is basically used to determine the strength and weakness of an application from the end user point of view.Questionnaires have been used to evaluate user interface of different application. This paper is a survey and analysis of the performance of Microsoft office 2003-2007 packages. We have considered this product because of its large scale usage in professional and academics. In this paper we have presented the survey conducted over different professional and also analysis of those result.

The rapid growth and diversities of Web information bring a lot of difficulties to efficient information retrieval. The current information retrieval tools just offer-based searching, but ignore the semantic content of the keyword itself. The authors' library information retrieval system takes advantage of ontology, which expands the requirements of users to a semantic word set,and provides a document analyzer to filter the Web pages returned by the search agent according to a certain algorithm.Consequently it presents the most relavant documents to the users.

Aiming at the problem of traditional information retrieval based on key words, a domain ontology-based semantic information retrieval model is proposed. On the basis of establishing the relationship between the ontology concept and the content of document, pre-processes the user's query, calculates the similarity using domain ontology, and shows the sorted relative documents corresponding to the query. The built Web-based intelligent retrieval prototype validates the effectiveness of the model preliminarily.
