    Abstract:
This paper discusses sources of marine pollution in Malaysia and examines existing provisions under the law relevant to the control of such pollution.Being a maritime nation as well as one of the top biodiversity-rich countries in the world, it is important for Malaysia to give its full commitment in conserving her mega-diverse ecosystems, including that of the richly endowed seas.At present, the well being of Malaysia's marine biodiversity is facing increasing threat from various sources, notably that of land-based and vessel-based pollution.Malaysia takes pollution issue seriously, and joins other key maritime nations in enhancing her legal regime in dealing with marine pollution. This paper seeks to highlight Malaysia's continuous effort towards marine pollution control through the application of both domestic and international law.Significantly, such effort can be used as a reference by other maritime nations for the purpose of collective marine environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

Abstract The Indonesian Archipelago is one of the richest marine biodiversity areas in the world. While the total biodiversity of any particular area is a function of a complex set of physical, chemical and biological interactions, as well as geological history, it will be useful here to discuss biodiversity at two levels, namely at the ecosystem level and the species level. Genetic biodiversity is the least understood level and is beyond the scope of this book.

Human activities in the areas outside national jurisdiction (High Seas and the Area) are increasing and may threaten marine biodiversity. This report presents a review of human activities and their potential impact on biodiversity of the high seas. For each activity, the technical details, the extent and spatial distribution of the activity and their socioCeconomic importance is described and the potential impact on marine biodiversity is analysed.

Water pollution is a universal problem; this vital matter essential to the life of all living things has become rare where drought is the only truth despite rising rates of precipitate compared with recent years. Our study is precisely to support the conformity of effluents discharged in the Bay of Arzew with the standard Algerian and study the impact of organic pollution on surface water, to protect the environment where the final recipient is presented in our case by the sea .This bay is considered as a vulnerable area where the potential disasters can cause great maritime pollution. There are many vulnerable sites, which could cause serious pollution’s problem by oil spills. The bay of Arzew presents probably the most polluted marine environment of the Mediterranean. For this purpose several samples are taken and a range of analysis is performed, such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), oil content (HC) .The main objective of this work is determining the source of pollution and the more intense process of treating the pollution before being evacuated to the sea.

To utilize orderly and protect reasonably the biodiversity resource in China Seas, the protection status and research development for the marine biodiversity was summarized, according to the newest research results as well as the historical surveying data. The main aspects were focused on the status and the research development for the genetic diversity, species diversity and ecosystem diversity of the marine organisms in China Seas, and also the main risk and several hot topics on the biodiversity protection were analyzed.

Marine biodiversity is an important component of the global ecosystem, and the current status and changing trends of marine biodiversity are complex issues that require consideration of multiple factors in their research. It is estimated that there are over 2 million species in the ocean, many of which are still undiscovered. However, due to factors such as human activities and climate change, global marine biodiversity is facing serious threats and challenges. This article aims to explore the current status and future trends of global marine biodiversity, and propose measures and methods for protecting marine biodiversity. Emphasize the importance and necessity of protecting marine biodiversity, propose future prospects and development directions, and call on the global community to jointly protect marine biodiversity.

The Marine Environment and Biodiversity introduces the key features of the marine environment and explores definitions of marine biodiversity at different levels of biological organization: genetic, species, ecosystem, and functional. It also discusses how changes in ocean features due to human activities are having a negative impact on marine biological diversity. Topics covered include the ocean in motion and seawater matters. The text also asks: what is marine biodiversity? It shows how we can measure marine biodiversity and considers what marine biodiversity can do for us. Finally, the text poses the question: what are we doing to marine biodiversity?
