Objective To study the genetic effects of lead on root tip cell of Vicia faba. Methods Micronucleus tests were conducted on root tip cell of Vicia faba treated with Pb2+ of concentrations of 0.1, 1.0, 5.0, 25.0, 50.0 mg/L for 12-36 h. Results The results indicated that the rates of micronucleus of lead-treated tip cell were significantly higher than that of the control (P0.01),the mitotic index significantly decreased compared with the control (P0.05)and the response of high dose-short time exposure was the same as that of low dose-long time exposure. Conclusion Lead may induce, concentration-dependent and time-dependent, rate of micronucleus increasing in Vicia faba root tip cell and mitotic index decreasing as well. It is feasible to monitor lead pollution using micronucleus test on root tip cell of Vicia faba.

Effects of two pesticides, imidacloprid[1- (6- chloro-3 -pyridylmethyl) -N- nitro- imdazolidin -2- ylideneamine] and RH-5849[2-benzoy-1-tert-butylbenzoylhydrazine],on the rates of micronucleus formation in root tip cells of Allium sativum and Vicia faba, respectively are studied in the present investigation. Compared with negative control group, results showed that rates of micronucleus formation in the Allium sativum and Vicia faba were not remarkably different (P0.05), but significantly different (P0.01) when compared with positive control. The results indicated that neither imidacloprid nor RH-5849 exhibited significant effects on the micronuclei frequency in root tip cells of Allium sativum and Vicia faba.

In this study on the mutagenic effects of different concentrations of chromium trioxide (CrO3) on Vicia faba root tip, micronucleus assay and chromosome aberration assay were used to determine the mitotic indexes, micronucleus rate and chromosome aberration rate of Vicia faba root tip cells. The results showed that the effects of CrO3 concentration on the mitotic indexes were complicated. CrO3 increases the micronucleus rate of Vicia faba root tip cells. It was found that within certain range of CrO3 concentration the micronucleus rate increased systematically with increased concentration of CrO3, but that the micronucleus rate decreased at higher level of CrO3 and that CrO3 also caused various types of chromosome aberration at a rate which increased systematically with increased concentration of CrO3. We concluded that CrO3 has significant mutagenic effect on Vicia faba root tip cells.

The clastogenic effect of two detergents one anionic (Roma) and another nonionic (Triton X-100), potassium dichromate, and various concentrations of the mixtures metal-detergents was analyzed in the meristematic cells of the root tips of Vicia faba. The chromium compound induced chromosomal aberrations as well as c-metaphases in similar frequencies as the mixture chromium- surfactants. The detergents did not produce cytogenetic disturbances, nor did they facilitate the clastogenic effects of chromium.

In order to preliminary studying on effect of TMV solution to environmental deterioration,Micronucleus tests were conducted in Vicia faba root tips treated with different concentrations of TMV solution in the study.The results as follows: TMV solution had some inductive effect on micronucleus of Vicia faba root tips.Compared with the control group,the difference was very significant between different concentration of TMV solution and micronucleus rate of Vicia faba root tips(P= 0.0030.01).Its micronucleus rate tended to increase with the increasing of TMV solution concentration(r=0.982).Comparing with the control group,the difference was not significant(P0.01,r=0.312) between different processing time and micronucleus rate of Vicia faba root tips treated by the same concentration of TMV solution.It is suggested that micronucleus test can be applied to monitor inherent toxicity of tobacco mosaic virus.

[Objective] The aim was to research the mutagenic effect of common daily articles on market on root tip cells of Vicia faba L.[Method] Three kinds of daily articles(Floral water,detergent and toothpaste) with different concn.were selected as mutagen to treat the root tip cells of Songzi black V.faba resp.and the micronucleus rate of V.faba root tip cells was determined by micronucleus test.[Result] After V.faba root tip cells were treated by treatment liquor of Floral water,detergent and toothpaste with different concn.,the shape of V.faba root tip cells was damaged to different extent,the root tip length was shortened obviously,and changed to yellow and black.The micronucleus mutation test showed that the V.faba root tip cells treated by daily articles with different concn.could induce micronucleus rate with different frequency,which presented increasing tendency with the raise of treatment concn.in a certain range.When the concn.of detergent treatment group reached to the stock solution one,the micronucleus rate showed decline trend,but was still higher than that obtained from the negative control group with distilled water.[Conclusion] The daily articles had some certain inducing effect on V.faba root tip cells.

Objective:To investigate the anti-mutation effect of vitamin C in fruits and vegetables.Methods:The content of vitamin C in fruits and vegetables were measured by fluorescence array,anti-mutation effect of vitamin C were assessed by micronucleus test in vicia faba root tip.Results:The content of vitamin C in nine kinds of fruits and vegetables was 39.19±29.65 mg/100g.There was statistic difference(P0.05)between each group and positive control group in micronucleus rate of vicia faba root tip.Conclusion:There was an anti-mutation effect of vitamin C from fruit and vegetables in suppression vicia faba root tip cellular mutation,and this anti-effect would increase in a dose-dependent manner.

The effect that metronidazole induces the micronucleus of root tip cells in Vicia faba was mainly studied in this experimentation.By this study,it showed that:(1) When the metronidazole concentration was 0.1 mg/L,6 mg/L,12 mg/L,40mg/L and 500 mg/L,the micronucleus frequencies of root tip cells in Vicia faba was significantly different from that of negative control group,and there was apparent dosage-effect relationship between the concentration of metronidazole and the micronucleus frequencies of root tip cells in Vicia faba;(2) Metronidazole could cause the damage of genetical materials(DNA),and it had the characteristic of molecular mutagenesis.

This paper presents the study on the effects of Er 3+ and rare earth multi element compound fertilizer(REMECF) on the formation of micronucleus(FMN)in root tip cells of Vicia faba .The study showed that the micronucleus could be induced by Er 3+ and REMECF,and suggested that Er 3+ and REMECF had genetic toxicity in root tip cells of Vicia faba .
