Abstract:
The Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) is a tool independent standard for the exchange of dynamic models and for co-simulation.The development of FMI was initiated and organized by Daimler AG within the ITEA2 project MODELISAR.The primary goal is to support the exchange of simulation models between suppliers and OEMs even if a large variety of different tools are used.The FMI was developed in a close collaboration between simulation tool vendors and research institutes.In this article an overview about FMI is given and technical details about the solution are discussed.Keywords:

Dynamic mockup for computerized control room is being built for the validation of APR+ MMIS(Man-Machine Interface System) design. To simplify the implementation of the operation displays of APR+ dynamic mockup, a translator has been developed to convert plant DCS(Distributed Control System) operation displays to dynamic mockup operation displays. The proposed method was more efficient in terms of development cost and the accuracy of the operation displays than the method based on manual development.

The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of closely spaced fuel rods and high effluent qualities on the heat transfer and hydraulic characteristics of rod bundles. The effects of spacers and both vertical and horizontal oreintation will also be determined. All components of the Star Test Section with the exception of the surroundingrod mockup have been fabricated. The program has been delayed since about May 1, 1963 because the surroundingrod mockup, which was contracted to a vendor, has not been fabricated. A Du Pont inspector visited the vendor's plant and found that it is unlikely that the vendor will deliver the finished mockups. The SRL shop is grinding the tools required to fabricate a surrounding-rod mockup that is expected to be finished by September 13, 1963. A loading test of the central-rod mockup was made with an annular housing tube installed in the pressure shell. The test showed that several minor modifications would have to be made in the loading procedure and equipment in order to keep the central-rod mockup aligned and to prevent breaking of the sapphire spacer pins. In the authors initial high heat flux tests on small mockups armored with W rods, done in the small electron beam facility (EBTS) at Sandia National Laboratories, the mockups exhibited excellent thermal performance. However, to reach high heat fluxes, they reduced the heated area to only a portion ({approximately}25%) of the sample. They have now begun tests in their larger electron beam facility, EB 1200, where the available power (1.2 MW) is more than enough to heat the entire surface area of the small mockups. The initial results indicate that, at a given power, the surface temperatures of rods in the EB 1200 tests is somewhat higher than was observed in the EBTS tests. Also, it appears that one mockup (PW-10) has higher surface temperatures than other mockups with similar height (10mm) W rods, and that the previously reported values of absorbed heat flux on this mockup were too high. In the tests in EB 1200 of a second mockup, PW-4, absorbed heat fluxes of {approximately}22MW/m{sup 2} were reached but the corresponding surface temperatures were somewhat higher than in EBTS. A further conclusion is that the simple 1-D model initially used in evaluating some of the results from the EBTS testing was not adequate, and 3-D thermal modeling will be needed to interpret the results.

If the computer is a machine to help humans, its functions should be completely useful, otherwise it is ineffectual, despite containing several powerful functions. Thus, interface development is an essential issue. We discuss the idea of a pleasant interface in this paper. The pleasant interface does not require much effort while using the computer and operates in the background. In addition, this interface helps humans do a thing which is worth doing. In this study, trials conducted in a laboratory are explained as a step toward realizing pleasant interfaces, which include multidip aquatic interface, spatial auditory, and gait interface systems.

Testing fitness flooring mockups is sometimes required to prove the efficacy of a fully installed floor. Constructing these in-situ mockups can be labour intensive and costly. Keeping mockup sizes low is beneficial from these standpoints but can be detrimental from an acoustical standpoint. The purpose of this paper is to understand the relationship between mockup size and transmitted vibration as a result of heavy weight impacts. To achieve this, mockups of varied sizes and buildups ranging from 2′ × 2′ to 10′ × 0′ were tested and resultant vibrations in the structural slab were recorded by two accelerometers adhered to the slab. This paper analyzes the recorded results for both locally reactive and resonantly reactive floors to provide insight in determining what mockup size is appropriate without significantly compromising the validity of the results.

A multi-touch interface is a device which recognizes multiple touch inputs more than two at the same time and provides with intuitive visual representation of their results. It is widely used in computer industry and can be categorized by its size and purpose as follows: a tabletop interface, a wall touch interface and a mobile touch interface like a smart phone. In this paper, a tabletop interface and a wall touch interface are studied. We present believable interactions which provide with intuitive digital outputs from interactive systems as responses to natural input behaviors of users. Various application examples based on manipulation of multiple objects on multi-touch interface are discussed. The presented methods are evaluated by performance comparison with their previous approaches.
