The new mercury (II) compounds with (L 1 ), (L 2 ) of the general formula [Hg(L) 2 ], have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, electronic and IR, Raman spectra and thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry techniques. The changes observed between the spectra of the ligands and of the complexes allowed us to stablish the coordination mode of the metal in complexes and the mechanism of C–H activation is discussed in detail. Thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and other analytical methods have been applied to the investigation of the thermal behavior and structure of the compounds [Hg(L) 2 ]. Thermal decomposition of these compounds is multi‐stage processes.

Fourteen sulphonamides have been thermally analyzed using thermogravimetry (TG), derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). Their thermal reactions and stabilities have been thoroughly studied. It was found that the sulphonamides are first transformed into sulphanilamide. The melting points of these sulphonamides have been determined through their DTA curves and by the Kofler microscope, the results agreeing with those reported in the literature. The amount of water of crystallization has been calculated from the TG and DTG curves. Analysis of mixtures of some sulphonamides has been achieved by thermal analysis and by thin-layer chromatography using different solvent systems.

In this study, modem simultaneous thermal analysis instrumentation is employed to obtain valuable thermal response behavior of a three primary component porcelain ceramic formulation containing kaolinite, feldspar, and silica. The silica component consisted of both crystalline quartz and amorphous silica. The thermal analysis data obtained in this study provide information related to the behavior of the raw materials in the mixture during the firing of the formulation to produce the porcelain product. The types of thermal analysis data obtained in this study were differential thermal analysis (DTA), thermogravimetry (TG or TGA), and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG). These data were obtained experimentally in our laboratory using a single computerized simultaneous thermal analysis (STA) instrument.
