Increasing research related to endoscopic ultrasonography is published every year. A welcome trend towards outcomes-oriented research, evaluating the impact of endoscopic ultrasonography on patient management, is continuing. As experience regarding the safety and efficacy of endosonography-guided fine-needle aspiration in different clinical settings accumulates, this procedure is rapidly becoming a key component of endoscopic ultrasonography. Although promising developments in the fields of guided tissue sampling and image acquisition and analysis are being reported, innovative technical ideas need to be incorporated into the existing endoscopic ultrasound technology to take it to the next level of applications, such as endosurgery.

Since endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) was developed in 1980, its application has been expanded into not only biliopancreas diseases, but also gastrointestinal diseases. Because of this EUS has become a indispensable diagnostic imaging examination. However, EUS has some problems, such as difficulty in understanding biliopancreas anatomy. Furthermore each enodosonographer has their own style of examination, therefore there is no standard EUS examination. This paper describes the status of EUS in Japan in 2001.

Objective:To study effect and to estimate advantages and disadvantages of early endoscopy in patients for upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods: To compare result of early endoscopy and no early endoscopy in 359 inpatients. To analyze relation of early endoscopy and recurrent bleeding, and length of hospital stay in the patients. Results: 49. 86% patients have finished early endoscopy. Average stay of patients of early endoscopy is decoration for compare in no early endoscopy. For patients of danger of recurrent bleeding, the early endoscopy and the early endoscopy treatment are helpful to control of hemorrhage and to cut down recurrent bleeding and to shorten hospital stay. Conclusion: For the upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage of the early endoscopy and the early endoscopy treatment, they have shortened hospital and lower recurrent bleeding.
