Atomic parameter pattern recognition method [2] is used to study the regularities of formation of binary intermetallic compound between nontransition elements. It has been found that combining the Villars's system of atomic parameters (R SP , VE and X MB ) with our pattern recognition technology, we can distribute the representative points of binary forming alloy from that of systems without binary compound in different regions in the multidimensional space spanned by the atomic parameters or their functions. A hyperpolyhedron model obtained by this method can be used to predict binary intermetallic compound formation.

Using the revised quasiregular model, we obtained the equations of the liquid-solid phase equilibrium curves of a binary system according to thermodynamic theory. For the 9 binary organic systems having the phase diagram with an eutectic point, we calculated the phase diagrams and their values of the eutectic point (T_0,x_(B_0)). These results agree well with the experimental values.
