Abstract:
Objective: To explore the relationship between English language proficiency and mental health service utilisation. Methods: In September 1993, a sample census was conducted of all mental health services in the State of Victoria, including public and private hospital wards, outpatient consultations provided by psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, and primary mental health care provided by general practitioners. Response rates ranged from 37% for monolingual general practitioners (GPs) to 96% for inpatient units. Particular emphasis was placed on patients' English language proficiency and the role played by bilingual clinicians. Results: Over 80% of inpatients received a diagnosis of either dementia or psychosis. This proportion was even greater in the case of patients with English language difficulties. The latter group of patients underutilised specialist outpatient services, and those using these services were less likely to receive psychotherapy than fluent English speakers. They utilised GPs for mental disorder at at least the same rate as other patients. There was a marked preference for bilingual GPs, with 80% of patients with poor English language skills consulting GPs who spoke their native language. Conclusion: There appears to be considerable underutilisation of specialist mental health services by patients who are not fluent in English. The liaison-consultation model of psychiatric care may be an effective way of addressing this problem, given the important role already played by bilingual GPs in the psychiatric care of those whose native language is not English.Howdy everyone! It is 2020 and Census Day is April 1, 2020. There are many changes with the Census this year. Census 2020 will be the first census that people can respond to online. Sometimes people are not sure where to be counted (for example people in shelters and college students) and the Census Bureau has been working on this issue since 2015 (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/2020-census/about/residence-rule.html). For more information check out the 2020 Census Operational Plan—https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/2020-census/planning-management/planning-docs/operational-plan.html.

Abstract A brief survey of censuses previously taken in Northern Nigeria makes clear by comparison the importance of the 1952 Census in the acquisition of demographic data. Some of the problems of organising and conducting the census are considered. The analysis of the census results pays special attention to the pattern of population density but consideration is also given to age and sex structure, occupations, tribal data, literacy and religions. Shortcomings and omissions in the census, particularly the absence of any information on migration, are noted. The conclusion stresses the importance of the 1952 Census as a basis for future demographic studies ; the evidence for an increasing population but the absence of vital statistics to explain this ; the need for much further detailed analysis to be undertaken of the data in the 1952 Census.

The U.S. Census Bureau conducted the 23 rd decennial census of the country‟s population in 2010. A large percentage of the country‟s housing units received a census questionnaire in the mail or from a census enumerator and roughly two-thirds of those households returned their questionnaires by mail. The remaining households that didn‟t respond by mail received a personal visit by a census enumerator in order to capture their census information. This happens during the Nonresponse Followup (NRFU) operation. This paper will discuss what happened in the 2010 NRFU operation, including characteristics of the enumerators‟ attempted contacts with each address, characteristics of the housing units that were visited, and challenges and successes from the operation.

The census in 2000 is the first census in China at the turn of the century, so it is important and crucial. The paper puts emphasis on the exploitation, utilization and issue of the data derived from the census and tLhe way of the standardizing and managing of the data. The issuing of the census data, especially the issuing of important data about conditions of the country, should be standardized and managed by National Statistics Bureau.

The census of population has a long tradition, going back to the days of antiquity. Though the process was not always known as a "census," its first purpose was to supply a count of the people. Gradually, the purpose of the population census has been modified to meet the changing needs of society. Thus, the modern census has no administrative uses similar to those of the Roman census of 2000 years ago.
