Abstract:
We report on a woman with unilateral macrosyndactyly of the second and third toes, a local plantar soft tissue lump, and radiographically an abnormal shape of the phalanges of the affected toes. This finding may represent either an isolated macrosyndactyly or an extremely localised form of Proteus syndrome. Keywords:

Proteus syndrome is a complex disorder characterized by a wide variety of deformities including macrodactyly. In the present report, we present a case with complex macrosyndactyly in his hand. The patient was surgically treated. However, he admitted with lymphangiomas on his body during the follow-up period, leading to the diagnosis of Proteus syndrome. This article discusses the differential diagnosis of Proteus syndrome and the treatment methods used for macrodactyly along with the presentation of the case.

Proteus poison is a common bacterial causing food poisoning. The cases of food poisoning of Proteus have been progressively increased in rencent years.Based on the internal and external concerned references, the relative characteristics of Proteus were reviewed. The biological characteristics, clinical and epidemiological features, prevention and control measures of Proteus poison were included. The contents will be useful for the detection, diagnoses, prevention and control of Proteus.

On the issue of pathogenicity b. Proteus is not clear enough. Most authors consider Proteus to be a conditionally pathogenic species. However, due to the widespread distribution of b. Proteus in nature and its ability to drown out the growth of other species on media must be approached with great caution in recognizing its etiological significance in each individual case. Indications of Proteus as the causative agent of local diseases are not so rare in the literature. Hauser in 1882 described a case of phlegmonous inflammation, in which the causative agent was b. Proteus and Streptococcus.

[Objective] To find out the contamination of Proteus in directly edible food.[Methods] 1 129 food samples from 9 kinds of restaurants were tested according to WS / T 9-1996.[Results] 117 strains were separated from 1 129 samples and the positive rate was 10.36%.71.8% of Proteus was Proteus vulgaris. The positive rate in autumn was higher than that in winter and the highest was in August(33.57%).The positive rate of Proteus in cooked meet was the highest(20.00%) and that in acetarious food was the second(12.07%).[Conclusion] The contamination of Proteus in directly edible food is serious and the major Proteus is Proteus vulgaris. The serious contaminated season is autumn and the major contaminated foods are cooked meat and acetarious food.

Human blood anti-Proteus preparation activity has been studied on the model of Proteus etiology sepsis in white not pedigree mice. It has been found out that anti-Proteus plasma and anti-Proteus immunoglobulin with antibody titre 1:80 possess marked therapeutic properties. The obtained results of the experimental studies are the grounds for clinical studies carrying out with the use of blood anti-Proteus preparations in combined therapy of the patients with diseases of Proteus etiology.

Proteus, a sea-god from Greek mythology, had the power to transform his shape. The poignant film The Elephant Man tells the story of Joseph Merrick, whose body was transformed by Proteus syndrome (PS), a sporadic genetic condition of unknown etiology characterized by overgrowth of bone, soft tissues, and viscera. A review from the PS research team at …
