    Abstract:
Caparratriene (1), a new sesquiterpene hydrocarbon with significant growth inhibitory activity (IC50 = 3.0 ± 0.5 × 10-6 M) against CEM leukemia cells, was isolated from the oil of Ocotea caparrapi (Nates) Dugand. The structure of 1, determined by spectroscopic techniques, corresponded to (E,E)-3,7,11-trimethyl-2,4,10-dodecatriene (C15H26).

Yunnan Jiaozi Mountains Nature Reserve has abundant plant resources of Lauraceae.Up till now,6 genera and 17 species, and 1 varieties of Lauraceae which is about 27.3% of the total genera and 9% of total species of Lauraceae in Yunnan Province. The study focused on the application of a higher value of 12 species of Lauraceae plants, which were Cinnamomum glanduliferum(Wall.)Nees,Cinnamomum wilsonii Gamble,Lindera communis Hemsl.,Lindera megaphylla Hemsl.,Lindera supracostata H.Lec.,Litsea cubeba(Lour.)Pers.,Litsea pungens Hemsl.,Litsea rubescens H.Lec.,Machilus yunnanensis H.Lec.,Neocinnamomum delavayi(Lec.)H.Liou and Phoebe neurantha(Hemsl.) Gamble etc.For the sustainable use of the Lauraceae plants resources, some measures for exploitation and protection were put forward finally.

Extraction of the root and the tree barks of Cryptocarya laevigata Bl. (Lauraceae) with n-hexane yielded a chalcone identified as cryptocaryone (I). The structure of this compound had been elucidated based on spectroscopic measurements and X-ray crystal analysis. Conclusions about the structure of cryprocaryone (I) confirm the previous suggestion, which revised the structure (ll) suggested earlier. C. laevigata is the second species of Lauraceae which contains cryptocaryone (I). Furthermore, cryptocaryone (I) is a second naturally occurring flavonoid containing a reduced A ring system which has so far been isolated.

ABSTRACT To investigate the profiles of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons in grape berries at different developmental stages several cultivars of Vitis vinifera (Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Yellow Muscat, Shiraz, Lemberger, Cabernet Sauvignon) were analysed during ripening. Therefore, HS‐SPME‐GC‐MS measurements were performed with intact grape berries. The measurements demonstrated that grapes emit numerous sesquiterpene hydrocarbons and that the sesquiterpene profile exhibits a characteristic profile, depending on the variety and the developmental stage. In particular, bicylic sesquiterpenes with a cadinane backbone increased during ripening, while acyclic sesquiterpenes such as ( E , E )‐ α ‐farnesene decreased, except for Gewürztraminer which shows increasing amounts of acyclic sesquiterpenes towards harvest. Furthermore, the profiles of the emitted sesquiterpenes differed significantly. In particular, Gewürztraminer possessed remarkably high amounts of ( E , E )‐ α ‐farnesene, (3 E ,6 Z )‐ α ‐farnesene and ( E , E )‐methylfarnesoate, while the sesquiterpene profiles of Riesling, Lemberger, Shiraz and Yellow Muscat were dominated by bi‐ and polycyclic sesquiterpenes. Cabernet Sauvignon showed only minor profile changes during ripening and its comparatively low sesquiterpene hydrocarbon amounts were dominated by ( E )‐ β ‐caryophyllene, α ‐humulene and an unidentified sesquiterpene.
