    Abstract:
The adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes from aqueous solution by high surface area activated carbon prepared from grapevine rhytidome (as an abundant and low-cost bioresource precursor) was studied. The adsorption was studied from both kinetic and equilibrium point of view and the results were compared with the results of commercial granular activated carbon. Different kinetic and equilibrium models were used to analyze the experimental data. The adsorption capacity values were comparable for the prepared activated carbon and the commercial one. The results show that the low-cost prepared activated carbon can be effectively used for the removal of cationic and anionic dyes.

Using Gemini cationic M and other auxiliaries mixed together, such as 1815 and Poly-cationic S,the influence of the Cationic dye on the dyeing property of Modified Polyester CDP and ECDP was studied, and the interaction between Gemini cationic M and dyes were investigated. The results indicated that Gemini cationic M could be used as the retarding agents of ECDP;however, there was little effect on CDP,the difference of retarding effect was related to the high surface activity on Gemini cationic M.

Abstract It is commonly known that cationic and anionic surfactants cannot be mixed without the risk of precipitation or instability. However, many studies have shown that not only is it possible to combine cationic and anionic surfactants, but also that this combination can present synergic properties. Mixtures of anionic and cationic surfactants have many unique properties that can be very useful when used properly. The aim of this report is to present relevant information concerning the interaction between anionic and cationic surfactants. A bibliographic review on anionic/cationic mixtures is presented here in order to better understand their properties and possible synergic effects, as this is of practical importance for the chemical industry.

The adsorption of Pb2+ on activated carbon fiber ( ACF ) from aqueous solution was investigated. Adsorption isotherm and dynamic adsorption breakthrough curve were determined through static and dynamic adsorption, respectively. The influence of pH value and adsorption time on the adsorption was studied. The results indicated that ACF is good adsorbent for Pb 2+remo val from aqueous solution. Besides, ACF used is easy to be regenerated. So ACF could be used as an efficient adsorbent for Pb2+removal from water.

Mulberry shoot powder(MSP) is rich in cellulose and lignin, which can remove heavy metal cations from aqueous solution by adsorption. In this paper,MSP is employed to be as adsorbent to remove Cr(Ⅵ) from aqueous solution. The affecting factors on the adsorption of Cr(Ⅵ) from aqueous solution on MSP,such as pH,shaking time,MSP dose, and initial concentration of Cr(Ⅵ),were investigated. The adsorption isotherms were determined. The thermodynamics and kinetics for the adsorption were fitted. The results showed that adsorption efficiencies of Cr(Ⅵ) in water on MSP are high. The adsorptive capacity increases with the extension of adsorption time, and decreases with the rise of pH.The adsorption equilibrium time is 6 h.The removal rate of Cr(Ⅵ) increases with the increment of MSP dosage, and decreases with the rise of initial concentration of Cr(Ⅵ).The suitable conditions for the adsorption are as following: MSP,5 g/L;pH,1.5;temperature,25 ℃;shaking time,6 hours;initial concentration of Cr(Ⅵ),10 mg/L.The isothermal adsorption can be described well by Freundlich,Langmuir and Temkin models.Under this experimental condition, the adsorption of Cr(Ⅵ) on MSP appears monomolecular layer type. The adsorption performance is good.Cr(Ⅵ) is easy to be adsorbed. The law of dynamics for the adsorption can be simulated by pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order kinetics models.

The cationic surfactants based on biamide and imidagoline quaternary ammonium salts were synthesized and the content of cations was determined. The fatliquor for leather prepared by the above two cationic surfactants was made. The fatliquoring effect of the single cationic fatliquor and compositions one was inspected by the orthogonal design.
