A considerable amount of nitrobenzene, aniline and its derivative that are toxic to organism and difficult to degrade are generated in wastewater from nitrobenzene manufacturing process. After nitrobenzene and aniline wastewater was treated with ClO2 catalytic oxidation process, removal efficiency of COD, nitrobenzene and aniline were up to 90%, 95% and 95% respectively, with concentration of nitrobenzene, aniline and COD under 2.5mg/L, 1.5 mg/L and 100 mg/L respectively.

3-hydroxyethylsulfonyl-aniline was an important dye intermediate.Synthesis of 3-hydroxyethylsulfonyl-aniline was studied by reducing 3-hydroxyethylsulfonyl-nitrobenzene with Raney-Ni catalyst.Put 3-hydroxyethylsulfonyl-nitrobenzene which was mixed with water in high pressure reactor.3-hydroxyethylsulfonyl-aniline was prepared on the condition that temperature on 90℃,the pressure 3.0 MPa,the reaction time 4~5 h.This Synthesis method was simple and environally friendly. At the same time, the quality of the product was better.

Nitrobenzene was reduced to aniline using Fe dust in a normal CO2/H2O system. The selectivity of aniline was 100%,and the conversion of nitrobenzene could be 100% at room temperature and normal pressure.

A luminescent metal–organic frameworkgea-MOF-1, can act as a fluorescent sensor for sensitive and selective detection of nitrobenzene and aniline. More importantly, the detection limit of nitrobenzene is on the 5–60 ppm scale.

The solvate structure of 3,4-dichloro-1-nitrobenzene with aniline, 2C6H3Cl2NO2·C6H7N, is reported. Ribbons of 3,4-dichloronitrobenzene, formed by Cl⋯Cl and N—O⋯Cl interactions, are linked together via N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds with aniline into an undulating two-dimensional sheet.

This study focused on the action of Fe~(2+)/UV/H_(2)O_(2) in degradation of aniline and nitrobenzene. Wastewater containing aniline and nitrobenzene flowed through a resin (H-103) column for primary treatment by adsorption. The experimental investigation showed a remarkable decomposition of aniline and nitrobenzene with removals of 99.7% and 95.3% respectively.
