In this paper, the vapor-liquid phase equilibrium therm odynamic properties of HCFCs refrigerant mixtures were estimated by using the UN IFAC model of group contribution.According to experimental data in literature, t he interaction coefficients of the three main groups were obtained by mathematic al fitting. Based on the interaction coefficients, the vapor-liquid phase equi librium properties of the new refrigerant mixtures R32/R227ea, R227ea/R134a , R1 52a/R227ea and the ternary refrigerant mixture R32/R125/R134a were obtained and agreed well with the experimental data. The paper’s work provides a genera lized method to predict new HFCs refrigerant mixture. The result can meet the dem and of engineering designs which use new refrigerant mixtures as working fluids.

The present work is the successful extension of an improved equation of state (EOS) to refrigerant fluids. The objective is the prediction of isothermal and saturated liquid densities of refrigerants. Two temperature-independent parameters appearing in the modified EOS are closely related to critical point properties of refrigerant fluids. Our results showed that, the proposed EOS can predict well isothermal and saturated liquid destinies of studied refrigerants over the temperature range from 100-400 K and pressures up to187 MPa, with AADs equal to 2.16% and 2.66%, respectively. The surface tensions and sound velocities of saturated refrigerants were also estimated through the simple relations with AADs equal to 4.76% and 5.66%.

It has been found that CFCs can lead to ozone depletion and global warming when they are released into the air. In order to protect the ozone layer, the use of the traditional refrigerant has been forbidden gradually, and the research on the substitution of new refrigerants is carried out urgently in the world. In this paper, the substitution principle is introduced, and the research situation of new refrigerants at home and abroad is also described. The application of ammonia refrigerant is discussed in detail, and the developing direction of refrigerant also discussed.

In domestic air conditioning system the most widely used refrigerant is R22 has a high Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1700 and a ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0.05. Hence a new solution for this refrigerant is to be identified. R152a is identified as an alternative to R12 and R22 refrigerants. In this paper an experimental investigation was made to reduce the usage of R22 with the Hydrocarbon Refrigerant mixtures (HCM) of R22 and R152a refrigerants in the ratio of 30:70, 50:50, and 70:30 by mass. Experiments were conducted by continuous running tests under an ambient temperature of 32°C. The overall performance of the system proved that the HCM could be a long term substitute for R22 (chlorodifluoromethane).
