Three new abietane diterpene lactones, 3α-hydroxyjolkinolide A (1), ent-8α, 14β-dihydroxy-13(15)-ene-16(12α)-abietanolide (2) and ent-8α,14α-dihydroxy-13(15)-ene-16(12α)-abietanolide (3) as well as a known abietane diterpene jolkinolide A (4) were isolated from the roots of Euphorbia wallichii. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.

A new adduct of abietane-type diterpene, salvialeriicone (1), was isolated from Salvia leriifolia Benth., along with a new chemical entity nor-abietane diterpene, 2-isopropyl-8,8-dimethyl-7,8-dihydrophenanthrene-1,4,5(6H)-trione (2). Their structures were determined using mass spectrometry, and 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopy.

Two new abietane diterpene glycosides, wilfordosides A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the roots of Tripterygium wilfordii. The structures of compounds 1 and 2 were established using spectroscopic methods including extensive 1D and 2D NMR analysis, in combination with chemical reactions.

A new abietane diterpenoid, teuvisone (2), a pair of new dimeric abietane diterpenoid stereoisomers, biteuvisones A (3) and B (4), and three new sesquiterpenoid lactones, teuvislactones A–C (6, 7, and 10), were isolated from the whole plants of Teucrium viscidum, along with four known terpenoids (1, 5, 8, and 9). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis, and the absolute configurations of 5–10 were determined by electronic circular dichroism analysis. The isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic effects against five human cancer cell lines and for their α-glucosidase inhibitory effects.

An abietane diterpene, 11,14-dihydroxy-8,11,13-abietatrien-7-one (1); a seco-abietane diterpene, obtuanhydride (2); and an isopimarane diterpene, 18,19-O-isopropylidene-18, 19-dihydroxyisopimara-8(14),15-diene (3) were isolated from the heartwood of Chamaecyparis obtusa var. formosana.
