Induction of MFO activity in the antarctic fish Pagothenia bernacchii: Preliminary results

The presented work is based on an analysis of results of conservative and surgical treatment of 65 patients in sterile phase of pancreatic necrosis with the application of various methods of artificial detoxication. Increased efficiency of extracorporal detoxication methods is achieved by an individual selection of the detoxication method depending on the basic clinico-laboratory indicators of toxemia, phases of endogenic intoxication and accounting the mechanism of action of the methods. In the favorable course of the disease against the background of complex treatment using artificial detoxication methods decreased the basic clinico-laboratory indicators used for monitoring the level of endotoxemia and incompetence of the detoxicated bodies and systems as well as of severity of the general condition of the patients. Results of the research performed point to the greater role of using the extracomporal detoxication methods in complex treatment of acute destructive pancreatitis.

Summary Over the six‐month period following discharge from a detoxication centre, one‐fifth of the 98 women studied were arrested, one‐fifth were readmitted to the detoxication centre, one‐quarter were admitted to outpatient programmes and over one‐quarter entered residential treatment. The results are discussed in relation to previously reported follow‐up findings on male detoxication residents.

[Mechanisms of natural detoxication and antioxidant protection].

This paper considers the mechanisms of energy-dependent and synchronized detoxication and antioxidative defense (AOD) when synchronized detoxication and antioxidative defense (AOD) when the body is exposed to chemicals. It emphasizes the role of glutathione as a binder of this system involving in the regulation of this activity. It also discusses the mechanisms that define the reliability and efficiency of detoxication and AOD. The paper discusses whether the body's resistance to technogenic toxicants can be enhanced by using metabolic precursors of glutathione and other natural and (or) synthetic agents activating natural detoxication and AOD.
