FeVO4 crystallites were prepared by sonochemical method using NH4VO3 and Fe(NO3)3 · 9H2O as source precursors. The phase, morphology and optical properties of as-prepared samples were characterized by XRD,SEM,UV-vis absorption spectra and DSC.The results show that the synthesized FeVO4 crystallites have triclinic structure. The particle size of the crystallites decrease gradually and change more uniformity with the increase of ultrasonic irradiation power from 300 W to 500 W.UV-vis absorption spectra show that FeVO4 crystallites exhibit strong absorption in visible band, the grain size decreases and the corresponding bandgaps decrease about from 2.17 eV to 2.08 eV with the increase of ultrasonic irradiation power.

In the present study it was shown in rats that zinc is absorbed from excisional wounds treated with zinc sulphate. Systemic toxic effects were observed in the group treated with 20% zinc sulphate. Local toxic effects were seen in wounds treated with 0.2%, 2% and 20% zinc sulphate. An inhibitory effect of zinc on the migration of granulocytes was suggested on the basis of microscopic observation. In the operated groups which were not treated with zinc and the group treated with 0.02% zinc sulphate a decline was observed in the concentration of zinc in serum. The zinc concentration in serum increased in proportion to the zinc sulphate concentration (0.2%, 2% and 20%) applied to the wounds, while the copper concentration decreased in the groups treated with 2% and 20% zinc sulphate. In all operated groups an increase in zinc and copper concentrations was observed in liver. This was most pronounced in groups treated with higher concentrations of zinc sulphate (0.2%, 2% and 20%). The groups treated with higher concentrations of zinc sulphate also had higher pancreas zinc concentrations than the remaining groups.

The main technical characteristics and development trends of flaky zinc-based zinc-rich coating were introduced, including flaky zinc-based powder coating, zinc-based waterborne inorganic zinc-rich coating, flaky zinc-based alcohol-soluble inorganic zinc-rich coating and the zinc-rich coating based on spherical and flaky combination. It is considered that the flaky zinc-based power coating, flaky zinc-based waterborne/alcohol-soluble inorganic zinc-rich coating and the zinc-rich coating based on spherical and flaky combination are the development orientation in the future.

CdS crystallites with rod- and flower-like architectures were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal growth method. The hexagonal crystal structure of CdS dominated the growth mechanisms of the rod- and flower-like crystallites under specific growth conditions, as indicated by structural analyses. The flower-like CdS crystallites had a higher crystal defect density and lower optical band gap value compared with the rod-like CdS crystallites. The substantial differences in microstructures and optical properties between the rod- and flower-like CdS crystallites revealed that the flower-like CdS crystallites exhibited superior photoactivity, and this performance could be further enhanced through appropriate thermal annealing in ambient air. A postannealing procedure conducted in ambient air oxidized the surfaces of the flower-like CdS crystallites and formed a CdO phase. The formation of heterointerfaces between the CdS and CdO phases mainly contributed to the improved photoactivity of the synthesized flower-like CdS crystallites.

Different chemical forms of essential minerals and trace elements supplemented to feed may show different bioavailability in fish. The present experiment was performed to compare an organic zinc form (Zn-gluconate) with zinc sulphate as dietary zinc sources for Atlantic salmon. Triplicate groups of fish were fed commercial fish meal based diets supplemented with either a low zinc level (50 mg Zn kg−1) or medium zinc level (180 mg Zn kg−1) as zinc gluconate or zinc sulphate for 6 months. Growth, mortality and feed conversion were recorded through the experiment. Fish were sampled initially and every month for zinc status analyses measured as whole-body zinc concentration. After 4 and 6 months, vertebral zinc concentration was measured and serum zinc was analysed at the end of the experiment. There were no differences in growth or mortality during the experiment. The results showed a significant effect of dietary zinc supplementation level on zinc status in fish for both zinc forms. However, there were no differences in zinc status between groups given different zinc forms. In conclusion, the present experiment showed that zinc sulphate and zinc gluconate are equally efficient as zinc supplements in salmon feeds within the concentrations normally found in salmon feed.
The types and addition dose of zinc in the zinc-rich coating have a significant impact on the character of coating. Two types of the zinc powders and the amount of zinc were researched in this paper. It reveals that flaky zinc coating is better than the spherical zinc coating on corrosion performance, and the performance of the coating will be the best only when the solid content of zinc is reasonable. The results also show that optimal solid content of flaky zinc are 62.5%, 60% and 60.5% in the inorganic zinc-rich coating, epoxy zinc-rich coating and vinyl resin zinc-rich coating, respectively.
