    Abstract:
The continuous development of nonlinear loads raises harmonic pollution to a considerable extent on power systems and requires new tools to analyze these disturbances. For simplified studies, a statistical approach of harmonic propagation conditions in meshed systems is an efficient alternative to the tedious implementation of a simulation process. Under these circumstances, a new method has been designed to give a probabilistic estimate of harmonic disturbance levels. It consists of defining statistical models for the impedances of the system. This method has been validated by a specific set of measurements on the French 400 kV system.

In order to compensate current harmonic in power system, a direct harmonic analysis algorithm, which was based on Fourier transform, was designed to identify and track harmonics. Compared with traditional FFT, the proposed algorithm was less dependent on hardware and could be used to for selective harmonic compensation. In order to improve the current tracking accuracy and compensation precision, a combined control technique with triangular carrier and software error regulation was adopted. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm is feasible for harmonic elimination.

A harmonic and inter-harmonic signal analysis technique is presented in this paper. The technique consists in the use of The Fourier Theory for synthesizing harmonic signals and the use of two generalized-Fourier approximations based in different orthogonal basis for inter-harmonic signals. A numerical example yields that polynomial Chebyshev and Legendre function approximations can be very efficient to analyze inter-harmonic signals in a very short running time.

The specific harmonic analysis of bidirectional LCL-IPT system is presented in the paper. A mathematical model is built to obtain both current and power harmonic contents. The converter loss, devices properties, charging performance and harmonic power flow have been investigated to discuss the effect of harmonics on the system performance. Simulation and experiment results reveal that there are high harmonic currents in the system, which results in efficiency reduction and devices damage. The harmonic power flow is negligibly low compared to the fundamental.

Calibrated harmonic analyzers are required to underpin international regulations regarding harmonic emissions for electrical appliances. A method to accurately analyze waveforms containing smoothly fluctuating harmonics is described. The response of an analyzer to the characterized waveform is considered and a method to calibrate an analyzer is presented.

Scope of this paper is to examine the performance of two disaggregation schemes for NILM algorithms based on the utilization of current harmonic vectors. The analysis is based on measurements performed on real residential installation and the utilized features regarding the formulation of the load signatures of the appliances refer to the odd harmonic current vectors up to the fifth harmonic order. Moreover, a large number of measured appliance combinations is used for the application of the disaggregation schemes in order to evaluate their performance. The first scheme relies on sequential disaggregation for the harmonic orders, starting from the fifth and moving on to the first. The second scheme concerns simultaneous disaggregation of all harmonic orders in a parallel manner. The merits and flaws of both schemes are highlighted and the results indicate that for the parallel disaggregation scheme the appliance identification performance is higher at the expense of the computational burden.

This paper clarifies the operating principles of an orthogonal reactor with harmonic suppression, which possesses such advantages as smooth power regulation, low current harmonic content, and fast response. By combining the reactor own harmonic and configuration analysis, an expanded method about suppress its own harmonic and through harmonic calculate reflection to compensate the control harmonic is obtained. According to the feature, the control harmonic is fast getting corresponding output in turn. An automatically regulation system is presented for the power regulation. And the paper also demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of this system

Because of an increase of installation of power electronic equipment and other harmonic sources, the identification and estimation of harmonic loads is of concern in electric power transmission and distribution systems. Conventional harmonic state estimation requires a redundant number of expensive harmonic measurements. In this paper we explore the use of a statistical signal processing technique, known as Independent Component Analysis for harmonic source identification and estimation. If the harmonic currents are statistically independent, ICA is able to estimate the currents using a limited number of harmonic voltage measurements and without any knowledge of the system admittances or topology. Results are presented for the modified IEEE 30 bus system.

Identifying harmonic sources in a given power system is an important task for utility power quality management. This paper presents a new class of harmonic source identification problems: how to quantify the harmonic impact of several known harmonic-producing loads on the harmonic levels observed at a network location. The paper first defines the problem and proposes a harmonic impact index to theorize the problem. The paper then presents a statistical-inference-based method to estimate the index. The data required for this analysis are the harmonic voltage and current magnitudes continuously collected by the existing power quality monitors. The characteristics of the proposed method are investigated through case studies. Finally, additional applications and improvements of the proposed method are discussed.

With the widespread use of the distributed harmonic sources, quantifying the individual harmonic impacts of the multiple harmonic producing loads is becoming increasingly important. In this paper, a thorough review of the harmonic source identification technologies is given out and the potential research direction of this area is analyzed. Based on this, two possible methods, the multiple linear regression method and partial correlation analysis method are researched in order to determine the individual contributions of multiple harmonic loads. The proposed methods transform the problem of harmonic contribution determination to a data correlation analysis. The degree of correlation between harmonic voltage and each harmonic current can be used to estimate the harmonic impact of each load. Finally, the improvements of the proposed methods are discussed.
