The electrolysis in the molten salt bath has been carried out for the extraction of titanium from the anode of TiO, TiC and Ti-C-O alloys which were obtained from titanium oxide or titanium slags by the carbon reduction in vacuum and arc. It was found that the extraction of titanium was possible at a low voltage below 1.5 V by the electrolysis from the anode with a mixture of TiO and C. In such a process, titanium contained 0.12∼0.52% carbon, 0.36∼3.05% oxygen and the extraction ratio of titanium from the anode was 55%.In case of the electrolysis using TiC as an anode, a better extraction ratio of titanium (about 70%) was obtained, of which the carbon content was considerably low. At the earlier stage, high purity titanium was obtained by the anode electrolysis from the crude titanium produced by the carbon arc reduction. At the latter stage, titanium was extracted from the anode by the same method as the anode electrolysis of TiC, TiO.The grade of titanium, deposited from the anode electrolysis of TiO, TiC and Ti-C-O alloys, was the same or better titanium in comparision with metals obtained from the electro-reduction of TiO2 in the molten salt bath of CaCl2.

Putting some TiO2 into aluminum electrolyzer can make aluminum ingot produced by electrolysis containing low content titanium. In this paper, the microstructures of the alloys with low content titanium which are added to the alloys by electrolysis, were analyzed. The effects of grain refinement of titanium added to the alloys by electrolysis and by Al-Ti master aluminum were comparably studied. The results show that the titanium added by electrolysis has better effect of grain refinement than that of the titanium added by the master alloy. With the content of titanium added by electrolysis increasing, the grain sizes of the alloys decrease. When the content of titanium reaches 0.20%~0.30%,the satisfactory effect of grain refinement can be obtained. The author also analyzes the refinement theory of the titanium added by electrolysis and the use of the new method of adding titanium to aluminum by electrolysis.

Using Ru on the surface of hydroxyapatite(RuHAP)as heterogeneous catalyst, p -nitrobenzaldehyde was prepared by oxidation of p -nitrobenzyl alcohol at atmospheric pressure. The effect of factors such as quantity of catalyst, mass percent of Ru in catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time on the yield of p -nitrobenzaldehyde was discussed. The optimal reaction conditions were obtained as follows:mass percent of Ru in catalyst was 15%,quantity of catalyst was 5%,toluene as solvent, reaction temperature was 80℃,reaction time was 3h,the yield of p -nitrobenzylidene was 97.3%.The repetitive use of this catalyst was also reviewed.

High purity titanium powder was prepared by molten-salts electrolysis, using NaCl-KCl-TiClx mixed molten salts as electrolyte, titanium sponge as anode, titanium plate as cathode, electrolysis temperature of 900~980 ℃,current density of cathode of 0.1 A/cm2~0.6 A/cm2,initial soluble titanium concentration of 2%~8% and electrolysis time of 24 hours. Both the effect of initial soluble titanium concentration on impurity elements, and the effect of current density and initial soluble titanium concentration on morphology of titanium powder, have been studied. The experimental results show that the impurity elements content can meet the standard of high-purity titanium powder, the impurity elements content can be decreased by increasing initial titanium concentration, higher current density and initial titanium concentration can improve the current efficiency, and the titanium powder is smaller dendritical crystal at higher current density while it is bigger and uniform block crystal at lower current density.
