    Based on the observation of the current at several stations conducted synchronically in winter and summer respectively in Lianyungang nearshore area,we analyze the variation characteristics of tidal current,and the type,motion form,maximum velocity and direction of tidal current with the tidal current elliptic factors calculated by the quasi-harmonic method.The results show that the velocity and duration of flood current and ebb current are different.The tidal current is classified as regular semidiurnal tidal current in shallow water.The tidal current is rectilinear current in the nearshore area.With increasing depth,the rotating flow is apparent,and most directions are counter-clockwise.The variation of the maximum velocity and direction are obvious in different seasons.

    The Tsugaru Strait between Hokkaido and Honshu islands, connecting the Pacific Ocean and Japan Sea, has been used for shipping and fishery. The current in the strait formed by a tidal current and ocean current so-called Tsugaru Warm Current is recently assumed to be one of the potential renewable energy source in Japan. The present study investigates the effects of the coexistence of the tidal/ocean currents as well as sea waves on the predictions of the physical conditions around this strait. We performed two different numerical experiments for characterising the physical environment associated with current-current and wave-current interactions. Harmonic analysis of the tidal current shows tidal ellipses of the diurnal and semi-diurnal constituents are stretched into the direction of the ocean current and enable to be reasonably predicted without considering the effect of the current-current interaction. Wave height in the strait is shown to vary 0.75-1.5 times of the original wave height by attenuated and amplified by the coexisting current. It will be indicated that the physical environment associated with the current-current and wave-current interactions should be considered for effective utilisation of this area.

    Mainly based on the field data measured in the investigation of the coastal zone and islands of Zhejiang Province in recent years, we analysis the characteristics of the tidal current and residual current in the zone. The harmonic constants are obtained from the observed data by harmonic analysis.Furthermore, the paper discusses the type and the movement form of the tidal current in the seas adjacent to Zhejiang, and gives the distributions of maximum probale current velocities, tidal current ellipse of \%M\-2\% component and residual current in summer and winter. With these results, we draw a series of meaningful conclusions in this paper. Thereby, we also get a thorough knowledge of the characteristics of the tidal current and residual current in the whole coastal zone of Zhejiang Province.

    To study the current characteristics of Beilun estuary,a two-dimensional current mathematical model is set up and solved numerically by the finite volume method,meanwhile the model is validated by the measured hydrologic data in May 2011.The results showed that the model was better to simulate the movement of current.The distribution characteristic of current,residual current and main current constituent in the typical sections of the estuary are also analyzed and calculated,and the results reveal thated the Beilun estuary is a irregular diurnal tidal current estuary,the ebb current velocity is greater than the flood current velocity,and the duration of ebb current is longer than the flood current; the residual current is small which is mostly in 0.1m/s below,and the direction is general the same as ebb current;the amplitude of K1,O1 current constituent are greater than the M2 constituent.
