Abstract:
Despite its highly detrimental potential, most standard questionnaires assessing psychosocial stress at work do not include mobbing as a risk factor. In the German standard version of COPSOQ, mobbing is assessed with a single item. In the Gutenberg Health Study, this version was used together with a newly developed short scale based on the Leymann Inventory of Psychological Terror. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of these two measures, to compare them and to test their differential impact on relevant outcome parameters. This analysis is based on a population-based sample of 1441 employees participating in the Gutenberg Health Study. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and reliability analyses were used to assess the mobbing scale. To determine their predictive validities, multiple linear regression analyses with six outcome parameters and log-binomial regression models for two of the outcome aspects were run. Factor analyses of the five-item scale confirmed a one-factor solution, reliability was α = 0.65. Both the single-item and the five-item scales were associated with all six outcome scales. Effect sizes were similar for both mobbing measures. Mobbing is an important risk factor for health-related outcomes. For the purpose of psychosocial risk assessment in the workplace, both the single-item and the five-item constructs were psychometrically appropriate. Associations with outcomes were about equivalent. However, the single item has the advantage of parsimony, whereas the five-item construct depicts several distinct forms of mobbing. Keywords:

Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale is a widely used measure of global self-esteem; however, the unidimensional nature of the scale has been questioned. A unidimensional confirmatory factor analytic model was tested and found consistent to the data.

The revised Personal Style Inventory (PSI) was developed to measure the sociotropy and autonomy personality dimensions; both of these dimensions are thought to confer specific vulnerabilities to the onset, maintenance, and reoccurrence of depression. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the theoretical structure that informed the construction of the PSI. Using a large sample of nonclinical participants (n = 869) and a sample of outpatients with major depression (n = 101), both the items and the subscales of the PSI decomposed into factor structures that were, overall, fair to good representations of the theoretical model. Modifications were needed at the subscale level to achieve an adequate fit for the nonclinical and clinical samples, which provide implications for both the measurement and theory of the PSI and the sociotropy and autonomy domains.

The aim of the current study is to develop Maternal Employment Guilt Scale (MEGS) and to test its psychometric properties. For this aim, scale items were developed through a rigorous process of extensive literature search and in-depth interviews, and the scale was applied to 605 working mothers living in Turkey. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the MEGS had one-factor structure with 15 items, and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed this structure. MEGS has good psychometric characteristics with convergent and discriminant validity, regarding its correlations with other relevant scales used in this study.

The aim of instrumental study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Psychological Well-being Scale for Adults (PWS-A) in a sample of 222 students psychology of a private university with ages between of 16 and 44 years (M = 20.8). The confirmatory factor analysis reveals that data fit a four-factor structure. Furthermore, regarding reliability, the Cronbach's alpha for the total scale and subscales is high (α > .80). Comparison of alpha indicates that the instrument is more reliable in the Peruvian college students sample than sample of Argentine adults. The conclude, the PWS-A has suitable psychometric properties to continue validation studies, supporting its use as an instrument of assessment for psychological well-being in college students.

The objective of this study is to carry out the localization revision of emotional lobar strategy scale ofUKUR's(2009)teachers,and forms the emotional lobar strategy scale suitable for Chinese cultural background teachers.Based on expert evaluation and open-type investigation,20topics are served as the initial scale.581college teachers were successively assessed, and exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis are used to determine the scale structure. The results show that:College teachers' emotional labor scale consists of 4subscales,totally 19topics;result from confirmatory factor analysis shows that the scale has a good fit(χ2/df=1.18,NNFI=0.98,CFI=0.98,RMSEA=0.03);and the reliability coefficients for the 4subscales range from 0.78to 0.88.The conclusion is that the reliability and validity of college teacher emotional labor scale satisfy the requirement of psychometrics, and the scale can be further studied.

The purpose of this study was to establish the psychometric properties of the Attitudes Toward Research scale (ATR), including the validity of the scale through confirmatory factor analysis. After slightly altering the scale by deleting 19 items, and by narrowing down the subscales to four, the fit of the model was established. The revised version of the ATR scale (R-ATR) includes 13 items, which measure Research usefulness, Research anxiety, and Positive predisposition towards research. Overall, the analyses performed on the R-ATR suggest that it has strong psychometric properties, and that it can prove helpful to researchers interested in examining issues related to research methods attitudes, as well as to practitioners to be used for evidence-based practice.

The Institutional Integration Scale is claimed to measure five facets of college student academic and social integration. The scale was based on Tinto’s model of college student withdrawal. Psychometric properties of the scale were examined based on a sample of 1st-year college students. These results led to item revisions and additions. The scale was administered to a second sample of 1st-year college students. The final 34-item instrument showed improved psychometric properties. The revised scale scores had satisfactory internal consistency reliability and intercorrelations among the subscales and with the total scale. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the original theoretical model may be problematic. Revisions to the model resulted in improved fit.
